No but the performance rivals that of a generic low buck family sedan.

My mother owns a 2010 2.5i. I'm not impressed by it, but the car has been reliable.Anyone have real world exp with the Legacy?
Well then your millionaire friend is an idiot. Anyone who purchases a high end car like that expecting normal maintenance costs should just not even look at it. That's the difference between a real enthusiast and a yuppie buying it as a status symbol or "look at me" car.
Ever looked at the back of a 911. There isn't exactly space around the boot or motor. First thing I would think of even if I knew nothing of cars would be "holy that's a tight fit. I bet it's not easy to work on" thus I would expect high costs. Your friend should have probably bought a honda. They're better anyways
As pointed out to you. .. that's for a s7 not the run of the mill a4. Thanks for trying though. Falls back to if you want it you have to pay like the porsche.
Oh and before you attempt to compare the nsx I'll point out their axles cost 1500 dollars and their clutches cost 25-3000 dollars and neither are simple fixes. I believe being nice to a customer labor for the clutch was only 6 hours.
So you and your friends balk at costs. Those cars aren't the only ones with them. You want to own a real high end car that's what it takes.
$3000 oil change? And I was scared away from Maserati when my mechanic told me an oil change costs somewhere around $300.
It's about $100 DIY or ~ $300 at a mechanic..

I'm not familiar but I'm guessing some of those guys use better oil for tracking. it is an enthusiasts forum so I wouldn't be surprised.re: Post 1,
C'mon, they use "special" oil because its a Porscheeeeeeee and and you pay more because you own a Turbooooo
When Europeans come here, they laugh, because back home, Mercedes and BMW are as common as GMs. For some reason, when the german makes cross the ocean, they gain a premium prestige status. And people pay large for this.
Not unlike Apple, they can charge a premium price, because they are perceived as a premium brand, and there are enough people out there to pay for the lifestyle of owning these products. Good on them! A very successful business model.
Don't believe this? Check out when we ship Buicks to China and Chryslers to Europe. They go nuts for these cars and pay large to obtain them.
Nobody, even the staunchest German car fanboy will deny that, invariably, parts (and servicing) for German cars (and bikes) are incredibly expensive. You would think they were made of gold.
Common in Europe sure. Go to Calgary. 911's are everywhere. You mak it sound though like they're dime a dozen cars when in fact they are not. A gt2 is just as pricey there as here and to compare it to any north American shitbox is just absurd. Even a regular n/a 911 c or c4s is still above anything we produce in the center of the universe (north america)
And those engines sound amazing with exhaust! Cant forget about exhaust! it's all like GGGRAWRRRLLLLLLL
No offense but it sounds like when I gargle mouthwash
I'm talking the run of the mill sedans as being common as GMs all over europe, 3, 5, 7 series.... C, E class, A3, A4, A6's,
Admittedly, have a soft spot for 911's. Someday I aspire to own one. Mind you, Boxsters are starting to call my name. Even considered a Macan recently when looking to replace my trusty Accord, but still too expensive for what you get, but a fine machine nonetheless. And the maintenance and service costs of Germans cars give me nightmares.
My gf's dad 05 passat TDI is really growing on me. While the car seems to be ticking time bomb with the high pressure fuel pump/transmission/oil pump it has been reliable up to 300k. I did the gear oil pump mod for him. The original allen driveshaft was very damaged, so we dodged a imminent failure. I love how it pulls at low rpms.

The price in gas you saved is negated by the cost of repairs
Woo glad to see this thread still going LOL.
Well, I guess I'll share what car I ended up going with... 2009 328i xDrive!
First ever German car experience. Car is great. Not a huge fan of the throttle wen your at a complete stop, you gotta mash the gas quite a bit for it to start rolling. Other than that, the car is pretty solid, lets hope I didnt buy a lemon *fingers crossed*
Also I'm not sure if this is the normal for these cars, but the mpg gauge is a bit weird. For some reason wen im coming to a stop, the needle says goes to the very end like getting horrible mpg than once I completly stops it goes to the good side lol.
