Yeah, no doubt. Nobody to blame but myself for that one. Lesson learned. Again, buy local.
Yamaha dealership charged me $15 each to mount and balance tires that I bought from canadasmotorcycle.ca
For future reference!

If I was a local tire vendor and someone came in to ask me to change tires I didn't sell I'd send them to another shop. Want to save $20 on a set of tires? Spend $30 on gas trying to find a deal to get them mounted.

and if you did that... I would never go back to your shop for other things... It's stupid to turn back ANY customer.
Is it really a big deal? Tires are a product and mounting/balancing is a service.
I've paid for tire rotation and balancing service at Costco on tires that weren't bought at Costco.
On at least 1 occasion I have given my own oil to the dealership to put in the car instead of whatever they would have otherwise used (I had synthetic at the time).
Neither Costco or the dealership got upset about either the tires or the oil.
Maybe it is different for motorcycles?
I agree with the sentiment of supporting local shops. However, I have a hard time believing that any real business person would turn down work because the client came in with their own parts. Take the job and educate the customer on why he/she should should buy their parts from you next time. Not only did you earn their business but now you stand a fair chance that they'll come back for more parts/services. Telling them to **** off won't get you anywhere. You'd probably be the customer that says "xxxxxx store online sells it for this much, why are you $3.64 more?" So in that case it wouldn't bother me to watch you drive into the sunset.
You are still supporting them by having them install your tires. However I don't like when they rip off people. Kahuna tried the same thing, overcharging for mounts. I started a thread few years back and they actually lowered prices after all the negative publicity they started getting.
I'm also quite positive that no one cares much if the price difference on rubber were a couple of bucks.
When you talk about Pete though, you're talking about a guy who helped us all by making local vendors drop their prices few years back. We were getting gouged. I'm talking about 50 bucks or more a tire vs him.
So yeah, support locals but I personally feel that Pete deserves some of the money pool too.
That may have been before you started riding so it's possible that you are not aware of the situation.[/QUOTE]
Well you'd be wrong there.
Now that prices have come down (not on par with the US I know) and suppliers have let local vendors bring their prices down to compete with the online prices why not support your local shop? Not just their service side. I'm sure there's more then enough people in Petes area to buy his tires. I don't agree with charging people $120 to mount tires or $100 more per tire but times have changed and that's not the situation anymore (in almost all cases).

Cool Thanks guys. Diablo rosso corsa. I think I want these for this year.
Great Choice of tires i'm on my 2nd set and love them.
Just remember with most shops in the GTA they will charge a little more for installation because you dident buy from them.
A good alternative is remove the rims from your bike yourself and bring rims in with you to the shop for installation and balancing.
Like Cabosee said, many local shops will match and beat Petes prices, I don't understand why you would promote someone from Quebec instead of promoting the shops that are supporting us track side with their services and prices?Pete's has the best prices for tires around.
can you blame local stores for charging you full pop to install tires bought online somewhere else? I wouldn't blame them.As others have stated, your best bet is to go to a local shop and see if they can match Pete's superbike for pricing. I bought my tires from Pete's, but Zdeno's charged me over $120 to mount and balance.

I agree with that, the local stores i deal with will not rip off customers but they will not be as willing to give you a deal to install your tires, that is why I said full pop.I agree with you however full pop and rip off are two different numbers. Not the first time it's been shown that zdenos uses the latter method of charging.
