where do you guys get your tires from?

Iv ordered some gear from canadasmotorcycle. Their pretty good with shipping quick n it was free lol.

I wonder how the prices of tires are compared to some of the shops pricing.

Your best bet is to look up some tires and write down the pricing, then call around locally and see if they're similar in cost. With online purchases you still need to pay for installation/balancing, so add about $50

I make my own from discarded/bald tires and the left over strands of steel. Not going to lie, its a ***** to do and the quality isn't there but hey, at least it's free, right?

I have used Pete's, Rider's Choice and Speedworx for tires and they are all good places to shop for current date tires. Pete's had quick shipping (the others I P/U in shop/ or show). Pricing will depend on time of season, inventories, etc. so shop around for price. For reference, the best prices I could get on 180/120 sets in Dec/Jan 2014 were PP3 $250 a set and Q3's $230 a set before tax, & instal of course.

Riders Choice. just got my PP3's there and had them mounted on saturday morning.

As others have stated, your best bet is to go to a local shop and see if they can match Pete's superbike for pricing. I bought my tires from Pete's, but Zdeno's charged me over $120 to mount and balance.

Yep good point, I forgot price match is an actual thing and most places are willing to do that ahha.

Thanks for all the good suggestions guys!

We're they on the bike still?

Buy local.

Wow! At that rate, my machine will pay itself off in no time.

Buy local.

Agreed, even for A BIT more. Although as mentioned, more and more local guys will match online prices these days. My last set came from Tony at Blue Streak.

^ Are you talking about that gorilla tire machine for around $80? What about balancing? Dynabeads?

No, that Gorilla thing is just a bead breaker. I'm talking about a Cycle Hill changer and Marc Parnes balancer;

Pete's Superbike generally has the lowest prices for tires even with free shipping from canadasmotorcycle.ca.

Local shops vary but some come within 10-20 bucks of Pete's.
I know Competition Cycle does. It's a bit far for me though so I only go there sporadically but can definitely recommend it.
I haven't found anything on the west side of GTA yet so tend to buy online and mount tires myself.

As for supporting local shops - some are good but some make it difficult to do that - Zdeno's charging DavidR $120 to mount and balance two tires off vehicle? That's nuts. Never liked Zdeno's to begin with, poor customer service and rip off prices on used parts.

Do u still have the bill. Would like to see that. Zdeno charges me $20 per tire or $30 if I'm too lazy to take them off the bike. But I get a break on prices, been dealing with al for 30 years.

I don't have the bill still as it was over a year ago. I believe they charged me about $50 each wheel, plus another $10 for each bag of beads for balancing, plus tax, etc..

Yeah, no doubt. Nobody to blame but myself for that one. Lesson learned. Again, buy local.

If I was a local tire vendor and someone came in to ask me to change tires I didn't sell I'd send them to another shop. Want to save $20 on a set of tires? Spend $30 on gas trying to find a deal to get them mounted.
