when does the salt start?

Been finding with proper prep, I can ride in the colder temps on the africa twin, but I think the cutoff will be salt.

Any idea what criteria they use to determine when to start salting? Is it a date or week? a certain temperature?

No date. They watch the weather. We are starting to get frost warnings. The brine will be coming soon.

When it goes freezing overnight. They will brime or whatever that white stuff is day before, you'll see it on the roads in light white waves. I always do in Markham.
Or in the spring when no chance of freezing temps just to get rid of it.

NA, not yet....
I've already seen brine applied to a few roads near Orangeville. Really good chance they were done overnight as it was below the freezing point up here. I'm hoping there isn't too long of a frost delay at the golf course this morning.

4 degrees here in Tazewell, VA now. Going up to 18 this afternoon.
Current temperatures in Ottawa make me feel good about trailering the bikes down rather than riding them.
Looks like the temps will rise back there on our way back, but they've probably dropped brine already.

Brrr....cold as hell this morning here in Mississauga. Frost around. Guess it's time to go find my snow brush as the cars were all frosted.

Frost on the pumpkin here.

My last move was in January. Damned cold. Didn't need to worry about rain.

With the new house, you may be able to get a car or two in the garage. It is much nicer experience if you can. Don't need to clear off the car, easier to clear snow from the driveway without a car in the way, engine comes up to temp much faster, etc, etc.

One thing I totally forgot about is the GTI doesn't have a remote start...or for some reason a heated steering wheel!

That's where you are supposed to keep motorcycles. I hate cleaning ice off the windshield but not enough to leave my bikes outside. And before you suggest I need a bigger garage let me just say I'd buy more bikes before the car went in.
