What's the RIGHT cruiser for me?

You said Cruiser, Sporty, Comfortable with ground Clearence.

The bike that fits them all and has the power to prove it. Yamaha Vmax

P.S. They also handle better than any of the others that are listed.

did u read my post?

Yes, But if you get a First Gen, a Used Vmax is cheaper than most of the bikes being recomended. I just sold my perfect (The Black one above for $4,000)

The downside to the Vmax is not the bike, it's the insurance. They are blacklisted at many (most?) insurance companies in Ontario so you pay a 300-400% premium on them

EXACTLY! that's what i was just gonna say.. insurance must be crazy on that thing!

Have you shopped around Recently?

I know when I got my first one I found that to be the case, Some companies had it listed high, but others did not. I shopped until I got what I wanted. I know I am in the states, but I am paying $150 yearly for Full coverage on the Vmax, and I have owned one for the last 13 years.

As for the price of the bike, I bought my 2005 Last spring with 3,200 original miles for $4,300

Go British........Classic Bonnie. Lot's of folks travel across the country in comfort and style. Thruxton may not provide as much comfort but, look cooler and heck, everyone has their own opinion as to what is comfortable anyways.

The T-Bird can tour nicely and have a nice cruiser look too.

Of course, there is their big daddy, Rocket.

Respect from both the American and Japanese crowds too.

oh Triumph makes GREAT bikes no doubt! i was actually looking at the 2013 T-bird storm... i just don't know if it's sporty enough :( one thing you guys did not understand in my post is that i'm looking for a SPORTY cruiser not a COMFORTABLE one! :)

Here it's probably ten times that price at a minimum. I've heard of riders with no tickets and accidents getting quoted $4000/yr for a Vmax here. We pay way more for insurance here. Hell, I pay $550/yr for liability only on my 1980 XS650.

I guess it really depends on what you consider sporting. With experience in the Alps and having to adapt to the mild roads of Ontario, wanting a naked cruiser that is sporting but, can handle some touring (longer trips) is a bit of a tall order. And especially when you nix the limited available models.

I'd say you are SOL.

Or stick with what you know and make it work.

Cheers.

you might be right! i'm out of luck BIG time! that Europe trip killed my life here... everything looks and feels SO boring.. BC was quiet nice but Ontario SUCKS! sorry to say it guys but it really does! motorcycling here is DEAD! you can argue for ever with me here on this and brag about the cool roads we have but they are NOTHING compared to Europe :) just sad but it is what it is and gotta live with it... i just don't know at this point if i should give up on cornering, get a cruiser, or just stick with my naked bike! still have quiet a bit of time to decide though.

Did you ever mention what you ride now? Maybe it's the best and only bike for you...can't find anything to replace it.

I got to thinking that myself. I mean, what's the point of looking for a cruiser if you want to drag a knee on the off/on ramp to the straight highways of Ontario anyways?

There are some nice naked standards that can be great for around town, drag a knee and take a weekend or longer trip. Off the top, I'm thinking Honda"s CB1000 and Kawi's Z1000 and Yami's RZ1. Litre naked that can tour and be some fun too.

BMW Montauk

Moto Guzzi California (check the whole california line)

CBF 1000

Honda 599- it has a round headlight, I've ridden this and have been mistaken for a cruiser more than once :p

thank u all

x2 on the VMX17 and Im just shy of 50

Have you guys seen the new Yamaha Bolt?
