What's the RIGHT cruiser for me?

A good choice if you're open to something older, would be the Marauder 1500/Kawasaki Mean Streak. They were among the first of the muscle cruisers, but not as bulky as the M109.

I just got a Meanie, love it so far. Definitely a big difference from my Z750S, and since I got it late in the season I haven't had the chance to really test it out yet. I'm hoping that it will help keep me out of trouble and it should be much more comfortable for a long trip, I'm going to be riding it out east for 2 weeks this summer.

I've had my Stryker for a year, and love it. Beautiful rake to the front fork, and it doesn't hurt handling. Good ground clearance in stock form. Looks badass. And the ladies love to crowd around it.

Work through it and hopefully you'll get to what you need in the end...if not...try try again...lol.

My badass....with the 250 rear is here. And a buddy unknown to me, just bought a 13 Triumph Thunderbird storm...and we were both streetfighter dudes. Bad pic I know.

you were both streetfigter dudes and you're happy with the cruiser? lol ... that's good.. don't you miss the feeling of being able to flick your bike and cornering in the twisties?

Times they are a changin... I'm probably alot older than you..50 somethin...forget. It was you who were lookin at cruisers because of lack of twisties and such. Wanted a spirited cruiser ...??wtf?
I'll have to adjust from rippin around town like I use to I'm sure...but...I'll be able to do those semi longer distance runs with some comfort. Just got it dude...so I'm sure a learnin curve to adapt...lol. If I had the bucks and space I'd have at least 5 bikes...each for whatever mood strikes me.
You should look at the Judge...smaller back tire but quick...1700cc's quick ...oh too much cc's...1300 was your limit. I'll miss one aspect of ridin but I'm sure I'm openning another though. Seems your back to square one.

lol! i know what you mean... i'd definitely have 2 bikes in my garage if i could... but gotta choose one :)

I still have my cafe/frankenbike in the stable, and since my fiance was more comfortable riding cruisers it made the choice easier for me. And after the last 7000km trip the Z750S just wasn't going to be the right bike to do it again.

7000 is a lot for sport touring for sure! up to 4000ish round trip shouldn't be that bad though :)

Another thing for me about switching to a cruiser was enjoying the challenge of improving my skills on a bigger, heavier bike. I want to get to the point where I can ride as well as the police do in their skills challenges. Carving corners on a sporty bike is fun, but living in downtown Toronto makes it a pain to get to any decent curvy roads on a regular basis. Going to a cruiser gives me the opportunity to work on my skills in a different style of riding while keeping me out of the trouble I was too close to getting into on a 100hp sport bike.

well we only live once (and time is going by SO FAST) so while i feel like enjoying the sport bikes, i might as well do it, i'll get old very soon and get a cruiser lol :)

i've ridden a 1450 H-D in BC, to be honest it was PRETTY BORING.. i mean i loved the ride don't get me wrong, but after a while, believe it or not, my legs were tired of that forward positioning! so weird! i know that's gonna be something i will enjoy after 2000 kilometers of riding but how many times a year am i gonna go on a long trip like that? once!

oh and i have plans on adding highway pegs to my naked bikes for long distances! don't laugh! i'll post a thread once i'm done and post pics of what i've done to it... but i have something in mind :)

I just used the passenger pegs when I went to Chicago :p

You put your feet back on the passenger pegs, not really anything else you can do. I would, when my rear seat is not full, sit on the passenger seat. Its not really a comfortable position, but is a change from the usual position, and those little things help when on a 900+km day.

On my Z750 I put my feet up on my frame sliders to get a change of position. For my Meanie, I installed floor boards to give me some room to change positions. The pegs on it aren't out as far in front as a lot of cruisers to begin with though. On my cafe bike I use the passenger pegs since they are easy to get to.

Yep, though sitting on the passenger seat and using the rear pegs was amazing for me. Like lying down as I rode :)

Lol that's a bit crazy but whatever helps! My idea is different though ...that Is mounting a new 3rd set of pegs somewhere in the front :)

You said Cruiser, Sporty, Comfortable with ground Clearence.

The bike that fits them all and has the power to prove it. Yamaha Vmax

P.S. They also handle better than any of the others that are listed.
