What's for dinner?

For those looking at knives, I went looking to look at that Walmart Chef's knife mentioned earlier ($15) and ended up getting this Cuisinart Chef's knife for under $10 on sale right now, regular $30. Cuisinart Triple Rivet Chef Knife, 8-in | Canadian Tire

Love this meal. Scratch garden burst cherry tomato sauce spaghetti. Made with lots of garden fresh sun sugar and sweet million cherry tomatoes, fresh garden basil and hand grated grana padano cheese. This meal has been in high rotation and is amazing.

Another caprese salad. My garden fresh heritage tomato plant delivered and I love fresh tomatoes in this salad. I've spent $15 in good restaurants for it. I'm just this year doing it at home and it's amazing. Quality ingredients make a big difference too. Here I also used fresh garden basil, fresh bocconcini, premium olive oil, 4 peppercorn grind and salt.

Nice @kwtoxman & thanks for the compliment.
I love me a good Caprese salad.
Hopefully, that was some fresh bocconcini.
Have you tried it with fresh buffalo mozzarella?

Mussels are a definite must try for me soon.
Need to get a pot for the side BBQ burner first. Easy way to avoid stinking up the house while cooking fish. (Assuming that they are boiled first.)

Thx. I wanted to highlight Caprese salad here.

A Caprese salad is still relatively new to me (I was sheltered) and I've probably only had it 20 or so times in my life, but this fall with the fresh garden tomatoes and basil I went to town and have made it many times at home now. Very inexpensive compared to eating out and even more fresh.

Yes, the bocconcini is fresh ;), it was picked up from the best independent cheese store in the city. I've heard of buffalo mozzarella, but just now realized it's significantly different. I haven't tried it and will see if I can get it. Thx!

Here's another fresh Caprese salad meal. It's a great simple, fast and flavourful dish. Highly recommended.

That fresh garden burst cherry tomato sauce spaghetti is amazing too. Here's another meal with two varieties of fresh garden cherry tomatoes including the sun sugar variety. Fresh garden basil and hand grated grana padano cheese too.

I've had both these dishes in high rotation. More meal pictures to come.

Have a great Sunday night.

Charcuterie plate with soppresseta, Boursin shallot and chive cheese (a soft creamy cow's cheese with a flavour and texture somewhat similar to cream cheese), St. Paulin cheese (another creamy, mild, semi-soft French cheese made from pasteurized cow's milk), Raincoast cranberry crackers, PC baked sea salt pita crackers and roasted red pepper antipasto.

oh you are having some pasta with your cheese

Sent from the moon!
You have to put enough so that when you toss it, it all gets covered.
Plus if I only put some on now, and then some later, I might end up being the one to fill the container back up.
This way, it was my kid that had to do it lol.

Talking about BBQ... I made BBQ pulled pork again and after too long an absence. It was a 6 lb pork butt/shoulder bone-in prepared with a scratch dry rub. I smoked it using hickory, apple and cherry woods with the Weber Summit grill and grilled it low and slow for almost 13 hours at ~ 240 F over water trays... ending around an ~ 195 F internal temp. I started cooking the meal at midnight and ended up with 1:30 pm lunch :). Fantabulous.

Big pictures with lots of resolution. Here the the pork shoulder/butt just before I took it off the grill.

I picked up two different sets of fresh buns (kaiser and sesame) and had one of my favorite butchers make up a premium coleslaw to serve with the meal. Apple cider vinegar is an optional ingredient for the coleslaw that I add from time to time when plating, for a change (it balances the creaminess of the coleslaw dressing very nicely).

Served and greatly enjoyed. Here are a number of sandwiches.

Cheers and have a great weekend.

More great food pictures and variety.

Large pictures with lots of detail. The ingredients considerations included color selection ? so this meal pops with lots of color and big eye appeal ?. Instant Pot premium potato salad.

These preps include fresh garden red potatoes (skin-on), extra eggs, fresh red and fresh yellow sweet pepper, fresh garden carrots (separately lightly steamed on the stove for a notably firmer texture), fresh celery, lightly sauteed fresh garden onion (so the onion flavors were more oily, mild and soft in texture) and extra garden dill. I've dialed in this recipe nicely ?. Enjoy.

In the next two pictures I added a splash of apple cider vinegar to the serving, mixed in, which cuts the creaminess down and adds a very enjoyable slightly sour note to the flavor profile. Highly recommended.

Burger time. (I love these meals).

Mediterranean herb marinated pork shoulder chop done on the Weber Summit grill. It was a nice big thick slab of meat. Very tender.

I really enjoyed these three cheese nachos. The salsa was Newmans Own Medium fortified with fresh garden cherry tomatoes, fresh garden onion, chipotles in adobo sauce and habanero hot sauce. This one was fresh and zesty.

I just paid an arm, leg and left nut for two meals here at Scotiabank Arena.....and it was less than half of what they wanted to charge me in the suite we're in.
The upside is that the Buffalo chicken wrap is really good.
