What's for dinner?

Love the pictures

. Here's some more.

Raw ahi tuna poke with fresh garden leek onion stalk, fresh avocado and sesame seeds. Highly recommended and great eye candy as well

Here's another plate similarly done. I added some chopped white leek onion from the garden this time with the stalk

It was also great with some roasted (unsalted) cashews added

Crazy easy to make.

Enjoy.

Here's another meal inspired by the abundant fresh vegetables coming from my garden this summer. Asian wok stir fry. I used fresh garden Chinese greens (two types of bok choy), fresh garden leek onion and diced garlic. To that I added extra large shrimp (8-12/lb), flour stick noodles (excellent) and a quality store label Thai red curry (very tasty). Highly recommended. Big pictures.

The second picture is a similar meal again, using large zipperback shrimp (16-20/lb) and the same Thai red curry but less volume.

Enjoy and have a great weekend.

Made a quick chicken veggie stir-fry.
Sauteed the veggies in coconut oil.
Turned out quite tasty.
Second pic close up for all the delicious detail a la @kwtowman lol

Found someone local that does a foraged food course. Wild mushrooms etc. I’m going to sign up. I bought some lobster mushrooms from her too, very unusual stuff. Not actually mushrooms but a different parasitic fungus that has a seafood-like smell.

Where is this foraged food course or any website I can visit to see more?
I would be interested

Went to a vegan Italian restaurant on the weekend, as my son is a vegetarian, and we wanted to go somewhere that caters to his food choices.
It was all pretty good, but the highlight was the mushroom-based calamari.

It’s in the Kingston area. There’s probably one near the GTA though. You need an expert for mushrooms, it’s easy to confuse a few species that are toxic for edible ones.

That looks interesting. Any idea how they made it?

No clue. But I enjoyed the texture and taste.
So much so that we ordered a second serving.

vegan Italian or vegetarian?? they are different. My Daughter and SIL are vegan so i know well the challenges of going out to eat, or cooking at home, or just buying groceries......

vegetarian Italian , so many Nonnas rolling in thier graves..... I trained with a chef that specialized in pre Columbus Italian recipes, ( beforeTomatos, a new world crop) , he collected recipes from Monestaries and Convents. And he was nuts. Not pine nuts, just nuts.

@crankcall when I first googled it, I thought vegetarian. But when we arrived, I was informed that they are, in fact vegan.
I gotta tell ya, I may need to cut out my dairy as I felt pretty good the next day. Can't say the same about when I usually have a ponzo filled with mozzarella.

I haven't read the whole thread, so crucify me if this has been asked already. Just curious if anyone has tried makegoodfood.ca? It's one of those places that send you a box of food to prepare. If so, what do you think of the value, compared to going and buying the ingredients yourself?

I’ll sell you a box of beans for $50.

I think makegoodfood.ca is awesome for folks that live a life too busy to make good food. Its really not hard to eat fresh/healthy/reasonableprice. Its a decision in time management. Yeah I get , kid A going to soccer, kid B going to karate, dad still at the bar. Get up an hour earlier and prep. Prep before going to bed. If its really that hard , makegoodfood is better than the drive thru window.

Puff ball is easiest. It freezes, one big one will last you for longer then you will want to eat it.
