My two pennies… sell the bike if that’s what you want but get something extremely cheap to insure so even if you don’t ride you maintain your history of riding. If after a couple years you’re still not in it you can cancel the insurance.
I laugh…but I also cry at the truth behind this statement.
Thanks @SVeezy I don’t think the bike will sell now for a decent amount, but will hold off until the spring.
A 250-500 is in the range of $600-700/year so for an extra $300/year it actually makes sense to just keep the bike garaged if I’d keep something around.
Maybe a scoot or Grom wouldn’t be a bad idea. Or a dirt bike.

Not a bad idea. Get a mild 250/300 dual sport like a used XT250, KLX300 or CRF250L. Dirt cheap to buy, own and insure AND you can take it up to your cottage and go for rides or trailer it to the outskirts of the city and cruise around on lightly travelled backroads if/when you want.
When my daughter was about ten I was into sailing and had an invitation to crew on a Trans-Atlantic trip on a 35 footer. As tempting as it was I decided not to go. Thirty + years later I don't regret it. There's always another adventure.
I got back into motorcycles when family life was more stable.
A lady I know lost her brother in a mountaineering accident. His daughter was always asking when daddy was coming home.
