What do you do, when you see a driver texting?

Honestly you do too much and all you do is create a distracted ****** off driver who will now be busy txting about this stupid biker and swerving and cutting people off because they are ****** off.

I follow my dads awesome advice... when driving remember your anatomy... keep your a - hole behind you.

I disagree. People seem to be embarassed and put their phones away..

Anyone heard of defensive riding?

Isn't that when you kick their side mirrors off or put a dent in their door? Just kidding...

I usually beep the horn then shake my head. Sadly they are so distracted they sometimes don't notice. I think stopping the bike, climbing onto the hood of their car and taking a dump on their windshield might work though.

Good idea. Hope no one's wearing a one piece when they are performing this one. LOL!

I ride up beside them, hammer on the window and ask for the time. And if there's kids, I'll blow-fish the window.

Haha blow-fish the window... that's a classic!

Cat, people will not change their ways until there are heftier fines and/or bigger charges tied into distracted driving. BTW - your dad's a smart guy.

I think the key is to keep your distance and keep a safe "bubble" around yourself when riding and keep checking those mirrors.

I'd say that a third of the people who drive & text can actually do it proficiently. I shake my head at the other 2/3 and make sure to just keep a distance.

If I had a helmet cam, I'd just point to it to mess with people and scare them so I could have a good laugh. At the end of the day, I really don't care, though.

I care not for the new laws, or old laws, or the opinions of other riders on the road.

I rode by a police officer who was playing on his laptop in traffic. So, that settled any issue about the morality of that issue.

As for the dangers associated with driving distracted. They ought to start making laws against changing cd's when riding, tapping on a GPS device, having conversations with other passengers while driving, having wild kids in the back seat while driving and so forth.

So what do I do when I see a driver texting? Nothing. I continue driving.

so, I'm riding in traffic,
"40km/hr - 20km/hr - STOP" pattern
a see a lady texting (and drinking coffee, but drinking coffee is not illegal :) )

What do YOU do in these cases?

I don't want to be too aggressive, break mirrors, etc.
She won't be able to hear what I'm yelling, or see my angry face because of the full face helmet.

What is the best approach :confused::confused:

Incorrect. Anything that your doing behind the wheel(putting on make up, eating/drinking, reading etc) that causes you to have an accident is illegal. Its called care and control.
Thats why I don`t understand why a seperate law was made for cell phones. It should fall in among all the other things.

My favorite thing is to hear people say "I was mad when I saw this driver texting so I took a pic of them to make a point". ummm ya, thats safe.

I get out of there way, usually pull away from them. Not enough hours in a day to try and preach the dangers to all the people talking, texting, or whatever while driving there cars.

Its the reality of riding, there are terrible drivers out there trying to kill you unintentionally, and a few intentionally. Defensive driving, know whats going on, and stay away from them.

Unless it becomes a charge like the 50 over and until police start enforcing it, people will continue to talk/text while driving.

This is a finds committing offence, someone staring at there lap phone not in view is not finds committing. Yes everyone knows they're texting but you can't prove it. Which is why people do it.

Its a law with no teeth that has created more of a danger. Hopefully they get rid of it or change it.

+1 if u can put an extra lane between u and them. and try not to ride right beside them or directly infront of them.
brake check might lead to u gettin a new motorcycle and perhaps make you a bionic human w/ some metal plates lol.

I do this

it freaks them out...or I get laid

Get some distance. If you tap the window they might swerve or do something stupid.

driving up beside them and tapping on their window while moving it just dumb.

you gotta get up beside them on the passenger side, and leap from your bike onto their hood. That way you're not obstructing the drivers view and you can hold onto the wiper so you don't fall off.

;)

The only reasonable course of action would be to follow them home and murder their family!

Disclaimer: Do not follow them home and murder their family.

i would get the heck away from them. either behind or ahead.

I have not seen anyone texting yet, but I would get F-ing ****** and let them know, I would make a F-ing seen, nothing like a ****** off biker to scare some sence into them. A buddy and his wife were stoped to make a left, a girl TEXTING ran strait into the rear of the car, never even hit the brakes, if they were on the bike, they would be dead now. Saw some Jackass reading a Paper while driving two weeks ago, and I lost it on the ***, and scared the crap out of him, gave me a nice warm fuzzy feeling when I was done.

I simply pay attention to what I am doing, and do not care what someone is doing in their car. It is not up to me to enforce laws, I have enough to do already. Perhaps the OP needs to worry less about what others are doing, and worry more about what he is doing.
