What do you do for a living?

I believe the fluid used is, or is similar in characteristic to ethylene glycol.

Theres several ways to keep concrete pads clear of snow. I don't remember them all, but talking with a mechanical contractor should get you some answers.

For now... wait till costs of electricity raises....

Personally if it works use it. Weigh the pros and cons with your needs and expectations of the system.

We do more pipe heat tracing then concrete, But thats more boring then a snow melting driveway lol,
But we do lots of pipe tracing for the oil companies and they aren't going anywhere anytime soon.

doesn't have to be run constantly. Runs as needed. Nat gas is so much cheaper to run. Majority of the house that have them are nat gas. Even Tie dummy' is. well Tie dummy's ex's house now lol.

Yes, Nat gas is much cheaper to run while it running, but the hydronic never turns off in the winter just idles (if you want a quick melt) when no snow in which you are paying for it to do that.
How can it run as needed unless you dont mind driving up and down a snowcovered driveway? do you know how long it would take to get it up to snowmelting temperatures from cold?
99% of commercial and industrial use electric because they can't afford the chance it freezes from slow warm up time and a lawsuit comes into play.
It has to idle all winter and ramp up when the snow falls, where as the electric is only on when it snows.
There are pro's and Cons to every system. electric is better for less snowfall and hydronic is good for lots of snowfalls do to start-up and idle times.

I work at a PSAP.

...but after reading this thread, collecting bottles sounds pretty lucrative.

Supposed to be finishing up my Doctorate, but let's just say I've been taking a wee break from it while I allow my tuition fees to accrue astronomically. In the meantime, I'm back to working in advertising.

Where Stormcat?

I'm in Advertising at an ad agency.
3d animator/ programmer coder, / flash programmer / jquery / anything that apparently involves a computer.
spare time sculptor with work that travels the world but unfortunately art won't pay the rent, just for beers while I cry myself to sleep due to making ads all day.

Does anyone that work in IT have any tips on how to get my foot in the door? I have no formal certifications but have dabbled in A+, CCNA, VB, C, JavaScript, HTML, and PHP/MySQL.

I'm a bum

I work for the government, make chicken **** out of chicken soup or vise versa depands on the demand.
