What did you do to your Race/Track Bike today - 2014

I bought a track bike, some of you might recognize it as it from a member on here.

Ahhh.. the old Barf! bike! Now that has an amusing story behind it... :lmao:

:) I got my Dion Device, Bazzaz FI and AFM. Waiting for the weather to warm up before I try them on for size..should be late June the way this winter seems to be going!

I am also now in possession of a Woodcraft brake lever guard and shark fin, and a bellypan made by Catalyst Composites Racing (nice piece!). Waiting on a modified bar end from Rhinomoto (another awesome company) to mount the lever guard, and then I think I have everything I need other than new numbers and some paint.

Contractors are currently constructing my man cave (workshop in the walkout basement, large enough to bring the bike indoors), so unlike atss2006 I won't have to wait for warm weather to start fiddling with all the bits, safety wiring etc. Lots of fun - like Lego for grownups. I am hopeful that I will have the bike entirely ready to go before April....

Advice please: my nose fairing is in decent shape - I needn't paint it all. However, I want to paint a white number plate on it. Whats the correct procedure for masking, priming, painting the number plate area while preserving the surrounding paint? I figure if the boundary is not perfect I can outline it in black pinstripe to cover the transition. But how do I do the rest?

And no, I can't just get the whole plate and and numbers made as one big vinyl decal (that would be easy!) because the surface is too curved and there is no way to apply the decal properly. At least I don't think there is.

Sounds great! Really fond of the basement thing! Don't forget to pick up the warmers at some point :p

Regarding vinyl decals, you'll be surprised how much they shrink and conform to curves when subjected to the heat from a woman's hairdryer. But others who have done it more than once should probably comment instead of me.

What color is your bike, i normally put the numbers without the white license plate.

It's a classic Ducati school bus orange. I don't think red numbers would look so hot on it, and anyway I think that would be contrary to SOAR rules.

Really? I guess I am naive about this- I was just going by the rule book. Red numbers on white background.

paulo's numbers dont need to be on white background........everyone knows his bike number "DNF" LOL

Although I never raced, when I was ordering my numbers from Trackside cuts I was looking at possibly racing in the future. I learned it's ok to have red numbers with white outline, like this:
