What did you do to your Race/Track Bike today - 2014

Bought a new front wheel with rotors and a new rear rotor (for an upcoming new-to-me rear wheel).
Once I have the rear, off to a friend's place to mount 2 sets of scrubs on the rims...

Actually it has been 0 km since its last valve check. It's practically ready. You know, except for repairing the hole in the bellypan, repairing, sanding and repainting the fairing, making a new fairing mount tab, rebuilding the forks, re-drilling all of the various wheel change fasteners for quick clips, changing the spark plugs, brake pads and brake fluid, changing the oil...

Well, at least I have bought all of the parts. Pretty handy with the credit card. Wrenches...not so much.

So your doing all the rounds this year?

This used to be my signature, but Paulo didn't like it.

Made up a little bracket for the tip over sensor and the atmospheric air pressure sensor. Finished up the motor mounts.

Next step is to connect the clutch and throttle cables at the bars, zip tie some wiring in place, then install the rad and hoses.

Then I think it's done!

This is a complicated question. Wife freaked out last year after round four, when I came home missing body parts. I didn't do myself any favours with her when I then raced endurance in Round 5 without telling her I intended to do that. After that she made a major declaration: No more racing for me, period. Round 6 I stayed home and kept my head down.

I have been working on her since October. Tiny signs of hope... At the very least I will be at the SOAR practice weekend and some or all of the Fridays. The rest depends on my diplomacy skills, which are substantial. But this is a pretty big diplomatic challenge.

This post makes me sad.

Only a few small things left. Connected throttle/clutch cables, installed the rad and hoses then safety wired the hose clamps.

Next few things are installing the APE CCT, QS sensor and then the tank and damper.

Then I'm going to pick up a boat hand crank to help get it up the stairs out of the basement. I also got a little eager and weighed it today. It's still missing the obvious parts and the cooling system and tank are empty but it is 327lbs right now. That makes me happy. I will report back when it's whole and I'll weight it again.

Tell her this year is the last year for Racing.

Repeat the same speech every Feb/March annually .

so she's ok with track days but not racing ?

Yes. Logic has not featured heavily in these discussions.

My latest strategy was to tell her that if she intends to take something away from me that is so important to me, the least she can do is take a few hours to learn at least a tiny bit about it. She has never even been to a race track, and has never shown the slightest interest in asking me about my track riding or racing. I think it all just frightens her.

I recently made her promise to read my entire racing blog from last year. I don't know if that will make her feel better or worse about the whole thing, but at least she might start to understand the level of dedication and passion that is required to participate in this sport, even at the lowest levels. That it's not just a matter of running off every now and again and playing on the racetrack. And that if she really does stick to this ultimatum, she will be completely gutting me.

If after that she still really feels that she can't live with it...well, I'm not getting a divorce over this. So, back to track days for me then. It would be cool to try to get my bike under 1:20 at TMP.

If I do come back to racing, just wait until you see what else will be in the PDR pits this year. Another BOTT LW contender, and a very cool one at that. I'm not saying any more because I don't want to steal my teammate's thunder...

There's an old book called how to train your wife , try that?
Kidding aside track days can be much more dangerous.
As long as your not going into debt for it , should be fair game.
Hell street riding is more dangerous

Took the bike to the coin wash - Nice and clean

Took fairings off and cleaned them, installed new light weight battery, brought the bike to temperature, turned it off and sadly put it back in the garage :(

Removing the Key switch tomorrow and installing an aluminium fairing stay, that all combined with the light battery should shave a few pounds
