What did you do in your garage today..?

Yup totally old's cool. I used a compass and protractor to lay out the pattern on paper. Theres a hole every 5 degrees. Hole sizes 3/16, 1/4 and 5/16. Laid that over the discs and used one of those center punches you push down and they pop. Then off to the drill press. My cheapo cantire gold plated drills worked fine. Oddly I required no lube.
Nice - I want to drill the rotors on a few older bikes. I was trying to figure out how to do them on one of the CNC turning centers we have at the shop (which would be a first for me). I can do CAD a pattern -- punches and a drill press are in my skills wheelhouse.

Thanks!

I assume that just cleans up the rotor after drilling and chamfering and gives a fresh surface.
I wouldn't mind grabbing that sometime. Who knows maybe there will be another Tasty Tuesday....Surprised there was not more interest in a KW burger meet up. More riders in Toronto I guess.

Added some more space to the tool box. Got a good deal on the middle box so I'm not worried about the different colour. Was a little miffed that the new box had chamfered corners and I had to cut away small bits on either side at the front for the top box to sit flat though.

Yesterday: Clutch cable on my 2004 ZX10R frayed. (Got home, but there's not much left of the cable, most of the strands broke.) I can't really complain, the bike has 132,000 km on it and it's the original cable.

Today: Rode to Two Wheel on a different bike.
Established that the OEM clutch cable is out of stock with no estimated delivery date, and none of the Canadian parts suppliers available to Two Wheel can get one. They can get one for a 2006-2007, but not a 2004-2005. Established that one visible difference is that the 2004 cable has a bend in it at the clutch-lever end, and the 2006 one is straight. Not sure why; the difference between the bikes is mostly cosmetic.
Rode home, checked online.
Motion Pro doesn't list this model at all. They list a 2006-2007, but not a 2004-2005.
Hmm, does it need that bend? Looked at the bike. Doesn't look like it. Took the stock cable off, and bent the metal part of the cable housing straight, test-fit, it'll work. But ...
Found a site that lists the length of a 2006-2007 cable.
Measured my 2004 cable. The 2006 one is shorter. Hmmm, maybe without that bend, it doesn't need to be that long? Test-fit and measured my now bent-straight OEM cable. Looks like the 2006 one is shorter than the shortest the 2004 one could be, while routing it as-designed. I don't know if the 2006 has the cable routed the same way the 2004 has it.
Hmm.
More internet searching.
2004 part is supposedly available from US sources. Shipping is killer and they won't quote international shipping and brokerage. No.
2004 part is supposedly available from CMNSL (Europe) - genuine Kawasaki part. Shipping is more than the cost of the part. Can't tell if they actually have it in stock or not. No.
Found a UK suppler - aftermarket. Claims international delivery in 5 to 8 days. Shipping is still expensive but at least there's an option for paying the taxes ahead of time and guarantee no further fees upon receipt. Placed the order. Now we wait.

Put some wheels on the side bag to protect the plastic hinges in the bottom.

I'll be in the US in about a week's time if that helps you at all.

Had the same issue with my FZ09 no stock in Canada. Drove to the states and grabbed two, now have a spare just in case.

Assembled my new Nomar tire changer today!
Also ordered a new road6 rear tire from Pete's.
I realize it's going to take centuries for this to pay for itself but I always wanted this tool.
I guess I should expect more friends now? lol.

Was it more, or less than a Rabaconda?
(I've got one in my cart......but I'm having trouble pulling the trigger.... $$$$)

Follow-up. Package showed up on my doorstep sometime today. Opened it. It contained a clutch cable. Compared to original - close enough (if anything, the outer sheath is a smidge longer and the threaded adjustment part at the end is longer - both are fine). Installed. Fits and works.

Supplier (UK based) - AS3 Performance - Aftermarket Motorcycle Parts - Recommended.

today: first time replacing front brake pads on my yellow one. a lot smoother than i expected.
tomorrow: looking to remove the front forks on my red one (will be first time as well). right front fork is leaking and rather drop off the forks to service rather than the bike.

I made a copy of the Seal Mate out of a soda bottle. I was so amazed how well it worked on every leaking fork seal I came across that I spent the money to buy a Seal Doctor that makes the job 10x easier, faster, and less oil leakage. The trick is to bounce your forks several times after cleaning to reseal.
