You're now in the baller club that replaces bikes on a very regular basis. Have you given the Ural a similar treatment as your previous bikes where you tear it apart and rebuild it better?
Only tightened a couple of loose fasteners and checked fluids. Need a new footpeg rubber on the left side and I'm going to put bashplate on it. Gravel roads and off road is a hoot.

Went to ride the KTM today (haven't been on it in a month) and it was puking gas out of the of the overflow. Figured a stuck float and after the usual attempts to fix it (tap tap, compressed air) I had to pull it to give it a tear down. Looking like a float needle is the culprit (or the rubber o-ring on that seat). Ordered a new replacement from JD should be here in a bit. Gas stain on the driveway and a lost day in the dirt.

Went to do front tire swap on my bike and noticed that the head of one of the brake caliper bolts was partially stripped by the previous owner. Tried to get it off and it feels like it's seized.

I was able to get the brake caliper off on the opposite side so I could at least swap the tire out, but will need to get this rounded bolt out when it comes time for brake pad replacement. I have no expereince with removing such things.

What's the best way to remove it?
Heat it and use some penetrating oil and then try to take it off?

Thanks!

Only logical thing to do is to sell it like the previous owner did and buy another bike. Now that MP has bought something we need another thread started anyways ;)

Step 1 visegrips or step 2 General PDP Template

I was going to suggest careful use of vicegrips also.
Using heat you might risk burning up the calliper piston seals.
Looks like grinding the head off won’t work either, unless you keep going and drill the bolt out all the way. Then you’ll have a harder time getting grip on anything remaining.
You could maybe go further and remove the rotor and calliper together after grinding the head off? Then you’ll have lots of bolt remaining to get vice grips onto.

Thanks everyone. I don't have any vicegrips, so I've decided to sell the bike.
Might get an Africa Twin because I have a fair bit of oil kicking around.
Check out @Mad Mike post back in thread to my similar question.

Maybe we need some sticky posts at the beginning or someplace for common stuff.

Finally. Paint looks awesome. New boots. On vacation. oooooh baby.

Here is how it started.

I really need a front stand. Sketchy even for me.

Really happy with the result. The rear axle nut requires 170 ft/lbs. I was a little worried about that but the rear brake resisted the torque wrench just fine.
