What did you do in your garage today..?

If you have the space (nice garage BTW), some basic tools, a shop manual, good, bike specific, forum support and the inclination I think most people can handle virtually all of the routine maintenance issues with their bikes vs. dealing with dealerships where often you come away feeling burnt or dissatisfied in some way.

In my limited experience there are often dealer challenges with proactive communication about the work to be done, or not done, and the cost of same, a lack of non defensive or non aggressive problem resolution and an absence of basic polite customer service as compared with the car dealerships I've work with over the last 45 - 50 years. I've also noticed that some bike dealers have more than their fair share of smart ass squids working in the shop area and I have no time for them either. I'm sure there are exceptions to my experiences, but for me it is what it is.
I do everything except engine internals and tire changes myself. I haven’t done tires because I was afraid to scratch up my wheels but I’ll figure it out.
I have/had a good rapport with this dealer. I rode bike home (Saturday). Knew it wasn’t right, tested it again Sunday down my road to make sure and then messaged him Monday morning so as not to bug him on a Sunday. He was defensive straight away saying he balanced them and can’t balance them any better. I told him I’m sure he did but unfortunately they’re not right and requested (nicely) he recheck them (even suggesting to him that a weight fell off). He never got back to me. It is what it is.
Cool egg carton tool box? @Hardwrkr13
Patent pending ;)

Checked the points gap on the RD250 and they were both over 0.4mm (ie out of spec). Reset them to 0.35mm . Did some fine-tuning on the carbs too. Will test ride it shortly.

Pulled the oil pump off the CB350four to correct a small oil leak. Five Honda OEM o-rings replaced and buttoned back up. Super easy repair. Changed the oil while I was at it. Went for a 20 mile test ride and looks to be fixed .

Made a path inside of the garage. But will be doing some good cleaning on the weekend (hopefully).

Need to figure out how to junk things instead of ‘this will come in handy later’ type of cleaning. I’m sure there is a lot of junk here I could easily get rid of.

Also cleaned out the car and installed some new mats. Much nicer.

If you can't stand the thought of throwing out something that's perfectly good, but you just don't think you have a use for it, check out the Mississauga Freecycle page on Facebook, or something similar. Before I found out about that, I posted a perfectly good top load washer on Kijiji for free, but no takers on over a month. I even contacted people who posted looking for one, and they all wanted delivery! I ended up leaving it at the end of my driveway with a huge sign on it saying "Still working", hoping someone who wanted it would get it before the scrap metal scavengers. It was gone is a couple of days, but to which I have no idea.

Good call. My problem is I always think ‘I’ll use the later’ and keep it. I get it from my dad!

As for leaving it on the street…pretty sure we have scouts in the area as if I dump something in the day, it’s gone within 2-3hours.

They took a car seat that’s expired FFS. I cut the webbing so it couldn’t be used, yet they still took it.

Freecycle is great, ive used it a lot. I got a "parcel shelf" like my neighbour calls it. Or privacy screen for my car's trunk. Those go for like $400 brand new

But ive given stuff over the years as well...

What did i do in the garage?

I washed the bike.
I can't believe how much i'm enjoying my foam pump sprayer. It does half the job for me.
If i had those little horsehair brushes i'd probably get that done even faster (instead of using my microfibers in the creases)

Well I've been hording cardboard boxes for a while now. Since the grocery stores stopped offering them to customers. I think half my garage shelving is for empty box storage.

I've been thinking about getting one of those foam guns / sprayers. Which one do you have?

A little work on the Guzzi. Adjusted the valves, replaced the spark plugs, cleaned and oiled the K&N air filter. This bike is such a treat to work on; everything is so simple.

I was lucky enough that when i looked into it earlier this year, it went on sale for $40
I use it on my car, my bicycles and my motorcycle, heck ive even considered using it on my dog with it's shampoo

It's got different heads for different types of foam (wetter vs dyer foam)
Overall pretty solid. Especially for the motorcycle as one fill of the container can do your motorcycle probably 3 times over.
This one doesnt require a hose.
Pump a good 40 pumps and spray... pump a bit more before it loses its pressure and keep spraying. Leave it on for 4-5 minutes...if your bike is just dusty, like what happens in my garage all the time, all you need to do really is rinse (i use a bucket but the hose is best)
If it's a bit more soiled, i use wet microfibers to wipe away and then buckets to rinse

Is that thing push rods?

In order to start my old CD125 (there's an ongoing thread related to my charging saga in Technical) I had to remount the exhaust. Since I have yet to source exhaust gaskets I cobbled a pair using two layers of cork gasket wrapped in tin foil. Now I'm curious to see how long they work if at all.
No matter what it can't be worse than no gaskets which how the last guy assembled the thing.

This looks very similar to the top of a HD V-Twin head. Dumb question does your bike have pushrods?
