What did you do in your garage today..?

Forgot one more thing. My leaf blower stopped working a few weeks ago, looking at rebuilding the carb but to do that the dealer apparently can’t lookup which carb I have from my serial number, so they need me to read the model off of the side of the carb. But to get to the carb I have to take apart much of the blower (Stihl BR600), so I decided to just remove the carb in anticipation of the kit. Problem is, I can’t remember where I put the carb. Ooof.

I was talking with someone with way too much money a few weeks ago. Hired helper ran straight gas in BR800 and killed it. He didnt bother fixing it and bought a new one. I would have fixed the old one but he threw it out. Damn.

Gambling that the lawn cutting is done for this year and cleaned/lubed/detailed the lawn beast and pulled the battery. End on my grease gun isn’t sealing anymore and doesn’t look adjustable so that’s on my Christmas list now.

I'm gambling that this is stock photo from John Deere calendar, not the actual grass cutting equipment.

The wheels on the platform are scuffed up some so it has been used. Or maybe he just didnt get to cleaning those before he took the pic. :ROFLMAO:

Split the cases of another sohc 750 in order to have somewhere to drive the slightly siezed pistons before I could get the jugs free. That bodes well.

Do to selling the ranger eventually the trailer needs to go. So need another smaller lighter easy to tow trailer that is also cheap. Welcome to the $100 trailer. Towed it home no lights, fenders or plate. 4 pin on truck was bad now fixed. I will install sides and proper lights soon.

Cons
Tires so old and cracked the soapy water bubbles in the cracks. 530/12
Colour surface rust.
The unsecured floor is very heavy and probably slippery when wet. 2 mm aluminum 1/4 inch heavy foam / insulation then 2 mm aluminum painted white. I think tractor trailer walls ??
4 bolt axle

Pros
Cheap
What lights it has work
has a strong heavy floor.
comes with loose fenders.
Wheel bearings not noisy
Folding but afraid to try.
2 " ball

Cost so far. Trailer $100. Used new tires $120, 4 brackets $12. Replacement plate $45 So $277.

Can the signals/brake lights be that far up the sides of the trailer?

I see a lot of them mounted to the fenders. If it has no walls and easy to see them seems ok. I personally don’t like the setup. I have a new set from princessauto and some flush mount 6 inch oval that would mount nicely at the back. Need to get a piece of 3x2 angle mounted first to protect the lights from the ramps or if I title the trailer. Then regular running lights on the side. Picking up some more stainless tie downs from princessauto and a bunch more bolts nuts washers lock washers to fasten it all down with.

99.1hrs on it so far. But you’re right I should hit those wheels with some Chemical Guys VRP as well :)
Next up is pulling the trailers out and doing the hubs and any rust spots. Greasing bearings now is easier than having hub issues on the side of a winter road.

Well, good value for $277. Given the general condition of the trailer as purchased I'd be pulling those wheel bearings and taking a close look at them before trying to haul anything.

agreed. Need to see what size. 1 inch or 1-1/16. 1 inch happen to be on sale. Then some new grease.

both seem ok. they needed tightening. Looks like last owner repacked them but with the pin in I could move them with one finger. got them finger tight then a little more to find the hole. No play when I tug on the wheel. I want to get spares but no markings on the bearings.

I diagnosed an intermittent check-engine lamp on my '04 ZX10R that has been coming on occasionally (once-or-twice-per-year occasionally) for the last couple of years. It's OBD1, which means it forgets when the ignition is switched off, which means you can't diagnose a fault beyond the current drive-cycle in which it came on ...

So, today, the warning lamp came on while I was on my way home. Now I've gotcha. Switched the engine off in the driveway with the kill switch (which retains power to the ECU and the rest of the bike). Ran inside to grab the service manual and the spare key to unlock the seat (can't take the key out of the ignition because that would power-down the ECU and make it forget the code). Unbolted front seat to get access to the diagnostic wire. Back inside to grab and strip the insulation off the ends of a piece of wire. Grounded the diagnostic wire. Success. Code 63. Exhaust servo valve actuator. Explains symptoms (occasionally down on power but only slightly). Unplugged connectors ... inspected wiring ... nothing seems amiss ... sprayed connectors with some isopropyl alcohol (only non-greasy non-aggressive solvent readily available) ... plugged back in ... key off then on ... actuator works ok, fault warning lamp is now off. No idea if the problem is fixed but I now know that it is as meaningless as I thought it was.

It is possible that the actuator has an internal problem. Bike has 128,000 km on it. The actuator is electrically connected but cables from the actual exhaust butterfly are long gone.

You could likely solder in a resistor so the ecu thinks the servo is still functioning.

Or, you know... ride one of your other many bikes and let the old girl rest.

Been a while since I added a new signature to the burn out zone. 750 gets new rubber this winter and I couldn't resist. Needed the rougher broomed surface of my driveway to hook up the front so I had to "aim" in. The garage is airing out now.

That's the meanest burnout I've seen in a long time, certainly gonna need new tires now!

Just wanted to leave a mark, not fill the garage with smoke and coat toys with little sticky rubber bits. Considering the tire was on the bike before I parked it in '04 you'd be right about needing new rubber, small burn out or none at all.

Rolling it back in I had leaves sticking to the tire where I warmed it up a bit.
