What did you do in your garage today..?

I also changed the oil on the VStrom. Went with Rotella T6.

My AliExpress order came very quick. So this is what I will be doing in the garage in the future.

I placed the order on Oct 13. One order for multiple items from different sellers. Delivery day varied from first week of November to late November.

I was pleasantly surprised when it all showed up today.

Radiator guard along with some switches I plan to wire in for Aux lights as well as garage door opener.

So what kind of bike is that rad guard going on? It's not very clear... ;)

Some non-KTM-wannabe Jap bike.

I'm still sort of disappointed that the red and white on all the pictures turned out to be orange and white.:mad:

Two words: vinyl wrap.

Someone said there's a V-Strom in this picture, but I can't see it...

Red or orange. I don't discriminate.

Either way, it sill looks good.
Plus, the deal was too good to pass up because of a colour.

Today I worked on plans for my new place. Just need the "engineer" to sign off on it.

I have a feeling my engineer would sign off on a design like this on your property quicker than on mine.

Just as your engineer would sign off on plans for my place quicker than on yours.

Each engineer doesn't care what really happens on the applicants property.

Now you know who the engineers are. ;)

I see a lot of wasted space in that kitchen area...............

We have a guy at the cottage who has a small lot and wanted a garage for his toys and to tinker in, so he purchased a non waterfront lot that had been for sale for years with no takers. His plan was a 60' x 40' garage with 14' ceilings, Township told him no go, as lot was not zoned for standalone garages. So a redesign yielded the same footprint for the garage with a 60' x 40' raised ranch / bungalow on top with full septic and a drilled well. It's quite the space and he stores a few cars, trucks, a few bikes and has a woodworking shop, storage racking etc....... Bungalow is being finished as overflow space for guests at his bigger waterfront home. Yes, he does have money to burn. I have a bad case of garage envy when I'm there.

On my last bike purchase ( a 1967 CD125 if you're keeping score at home) the extra parts came in this toolbox that was missing a handle. Yesterday I bolted onto the tongue of the trailer. Might come in handy for holding tie down straps etc.
Just behind it you can see a winch. When I remove the box and bolt the winch to the tongue I can easily load my sled w/o ramps. (I was surprised how well it works)

I did a few things this weekend.

1) last weekend after a ride on the trails with my sons, we noticed oil on the trailer bed. Lo and behold, there was a screw in cap on the left side of the crankcase that was just… gone. No idea how that could have happened; I have never cracked it open but best suggestion so far was that my son cracked it when he dropped it. Why the heck would they make apiece like that on in such a vulnerable position on a bike meant to be dropped OUT OF PLASTIC?? Luckily we have a Kawi dealer maybe 12 minutes from our cottage so it was an easy fix. Flushed the oil and replaced filter just in case anything got in.

2) Flushed and replaced coolant in my ongoing project, an 87 CBR600F, I had run some vinegar and diluted water through it a while back to get rid of some apparent rust, and had left it in because I ran out of time, thinking no harm would come of it. Then someoen suggested that vinegar shouldn’t be with metal for too long and I freaked out as it had been at least three weeks, maybe as many as five. Flushed it with tap water a few times, then ran some Prestone cooling system cleaner, then flushed with water again. Stuff was dirty and gross when I started, and nice and clear by the end of it.

3) of course, as is norm for me with that project, and sometime when I was running the bike it just stopped. Eventually determined that it would only start when bypassing the fuel pump. Not sure what’s going on there. It’s not the fuel relay but I didn’t have time to sort it out before we had to head back to the city. Pump is pretty much brand new and worked fine until then.

Forgot one more thing. My leaf blower stopped working a few weeks ago, looking at rebuilding the carb but to do that the dealer apparently can’t lookup which carb I have from my serial number, so they need me to read the model off of the side of the carb. But to get to the carb I have to take apart much of the blower (Stihl BR600), so I decided to just remove the carb in anticipation of the kit. Problem is, I can’t remember where I put the carb. Ooof.
