What did you do in your garage today..?

@Jayv The floor is the Racedeck Diamond. RaceDeck Diamond | Garage Flooring | Shop Flooring

They sell it for $4.25/sqft US and each tile is 1sqft. I worked out that I would need around 200 tiles and when I looked at the cost to have it shipped here + exchange rate it was well over $1k total. I found a local guy who is a distributor for them and he said he could buy it cheaper than I would have to pay for it and do everything for $1600 - marginally more than I would have paid to have it delivered. So I got him to do the work and overall I'm very happy with the product itself, but I would have done a much better install job myself.

The product just clicks into place and so if a tile in the middle gets damaged it's really easy to pop it out and replace it. My concrete floor underneath had some pretty big cracks which were filled and so the floor is not very even or level. These types of tiles are perfect for that, instead of going with an epoxy. Costco sells a similar tile product for much cheaper, but they sell it in bulk for each colour - something like 200 tiles per colour. With the design I wanted to do (and I was fixed on that design), I would have had to buy a lot of extra tiles that I wouldn't use, which seemed like a waste. I also read a ton of reviews on the Costco product that often said buying one colour was fine, but that the pieces would not line up and click together properly if you bought different colours. It might have worked out ok and the tiles lined up for me, but I didn't want to deal with the hassles of buying stuff and returning it. Lastly, I read up on Racedeck and they seem like a really good company that I would like to support.

If I were to do it again, I would buy it and install it myself. Basic tools only required and I could have done it by myself in probably 4hrs.

Thats a nice leaf bag stand ! Home depot??

:D

I will say that my wife said she likes the new Moto Guzzi V100, but I think that might not be out for a year or so.

Shane, your wife is a woman of exquisite taste.

The V100 should be in showrooms by the spring time, I reckon. Good things come to those who wait.

I'll just leave this here.

Thank you sir - she's with me so I think there is also a hidden compliment in there too:)
As much as I like the new Suzuki GSXS1000GT, I would buy this over that. That green one is for me.

dang, your garage is better organized than my living room! Looks very nice and cozy - missing sofa and TV imo :)
That's what my wife said. She asked if we could turn it into a hang out room and said yeah, for bikes. If I had a double car garage, I would have a sofa, TV and foosball table in there for sure.

The racedeck in my 2 car garage is over 12 yrs old. No regrets whatsoever. I use our hoover carpet shampooer to clean it.Shhhh.

Awesome longevity. When I saw your floor from some old pics it kinda pushed me to get it too. I will freely use our central vac on it and it's nice to walk into the garage with my bare feet without getting dirty.

Have you ever lifted a bike with a centre stand directly on the floor?
I kept a bunch of the off cuts and use those, because even though the floor is very strong, the centre stands feel like they will scratch it up pretty good.

The 900 lb wing made some little dents with the centerstand.I used my floorjack to change snows once. It made really bad dents. I use a scrap of plywood now. Nothing has ever punctured it.

My floor in the garage is way too uneven to even consider those kind of tiles. But at least I (mainly wife) started clearing the garage and making some space....hell maybe I'll be able to fit a car in there eventually.

I think my floor was pretty bad in some spots too. I think that's the allure of those types of tiles in the first place is that they work well with crap concrete underneath.

Almost done the garage - just a few minor things to do, including a ceiling rack above the main garage door to hold the tall ladders. I priced out buying wood and other shelves and decided to just go back to the simple white melamine. My Mom was getting rid of the shelf on the right and so I took it and it fits perfect and saves a ton of room on the walls.
Just need a shed to store the garden stuff and need a couple more bikes to fill up the empty space.

Looks pretty sweet. I like the pink (faded red?) monoblock chair. Perfect for taking time with beverage and or a smoke to gaze at the bike and ponder a future ride or the next project for the yellow lift. AND I like that a car doesn't fit.
(FWIW that right expanse of wall would be perfect for a large map with colored stick pins of interesting roads or destinations)

Looks like one will fit already. Trick is to get stuff like those bins on the right off the ground and up onto the shelf (where those red blankets are). If your car has enough ground clearance, you may be able to park it over the lift (after removing the chock), or just move it to the side and park the bike on it. I've been fighting an ongoing battle to organize my garage and every step forward seems to be followed by a step back.

Yes you're correct. I'm slowly getting rid of the junk around. The lift will be underneath the bike after I do my valve clearance and plugs (once they come in from FN).

The lift will be used as a table for all the parts I'm taking off the bike and it'll make a good work table. Then it can serve it's purpose as a motorcycle lift (once I repair the leak). Lift MAY fit under the Odyssey...but def not underneath the Volt.

Replaced the oem headlights with Philips Crystal white bulbs. While I was in there I found the little parking lights were also the same oem ugly yellow so I swapped in some blueish LED bulbs I had sitting around. The combo looks good when the headlights are on.
Hand-washed both cars and did a front brake job on my Mazda as well.

Nice!......I've had surgery in rooms that weren't that clean.

Curious, if you were washing your bike in the garage and getting the floor fairly wet how well does it drain?
My guess is it would drain ok. The tiles aren’t so tight to each other that water could go between them. Also the entire perimeter is set back from the wall about 1/2” for expansion so there’s drainage there too.

Personally that would not be possible because of the imperfections in my concrete underneath that would cause large pools of water, but if you started with a prepared base that was smooth or coated and had a proper slope, then all the water could just drain wherever you want it to go.

If I didn’t have so much drywall in there I would test it for you.
