What did you do in your garage today..?

You've got "self-propelled" junk that moves in by itself?
Yup, it's a form of entropy. Any organized system will naturally degrade into an unorganized system. It's the inverse of the "laundry ate one of my socks" problem.

Maybe we can get a 2 for 1 deal on some therapy classes
I'm not a licensed therapist, but maybe we can start a support group. My main defence against clutter is to have something more important to do with that space. Like, nothing gets stored on the floor in my garage, because that's space that could be used to keep more motorcycles. And nothing random gets stored in the top drawer of my tool chest, because that's only for the first-tier tools that I use basically every time I go into the garage. There are other drawers for second and third-tier tools, and shelves/bins for random junk. But the number of random junk shelves/bins needs to be limited (confined to a specific space), otherwise they'll eventually intrude into the space used for more important things.

There are a couple of philosophical ways to tackle storage and organization. I lean heavily into 'ease of retrievability', meaning that the most important and most-frequently-accessed things must be accessible without needing to search for them or to move other things out of the way to get them. That philosophy is in opposition with the philosophy of "completeness", whereby a set of things (sockets, screwdrivers, wrenches, nuts and bolts, etc) should be kept together, regardless of whether you regularly use all the items in the set or not. There's also the philosophy of "storage compactness", whereby you maximize the amount of stuff you can store at the cost of being able to get to it easily.

(yeah, I'm great fun at parties)

Why not put Zerks in? Roller bearings like regular greasing.

Whenever I do a swingarm I install grease fittings, makes servicing a 2 minute job.
They look like they're in a nylon or plastic cage. Might still work alright.

I did similar to @Wingboy

Pulled the swingarm off my recently acquired street triple.

Pretty grimey in there.

Nice.

The Hyper needs a new rear. They had OEM Supercorsa SPs which are overkill for what I need (no track... yet).

Thinking about the Rossos - heard they provide similar street performance with much better life. How many kms are you getting out of a rear?
It looks like people have that bike up to 130hp on pump gas. That won't be good for your tire life though.

Any recommendations on a centre stand for the Scrambler? Thinking of just biting the bullet for ease of maintenance.

Can’t seem to find any used ones so need new.

I can count on one hand the number of times I've had my bike on the center stand I do have spools though and just use the spool stand as it's so much easier

The X I had lived on the center stand. Every oiling and cleaning of the chain was done on it.

Plus it took up a little bit less space in the garage. I loved it.

Sounds like you can sell it, there might be a buyer for a used one ;)

Started the bike after the valve adjustment. There's about 5 seconds of clattery cam chain tensioner before it builds oil pressure and then sounds normal... a little nerve racking.

I cut out the center of the sprocket cover. I want to keep an eye on the new lock-nut and peened washer, to make sure it won't back off.

China tail tidy. There was a bodge-job flip plate on it before. I want proper signals too.

I see that Pit Bull has a rear stand specifically for the Scrambler's sloped swingarm. It's just a cupped/cradle pad rather than a flat pad. You could fabricate something similar that could be bolted onto, or in place of, the flat pad on a conventional stand.
Wow didn’t know that existed! Thanks!

That’s literally the issue. The bike sliding off the stand. One of the main reasons to buy a centre stand is for chain work or replacement, but this may work just as well.

Tune ecu has been fighting me the last few hours.

Can't seem to connect to the ecu.

I'm to the point where I'm going to take the tank back off, and disconnect the ecu. Check each pinout with my multimeter to make sure the plug is good...

Had this female cardinal attacking her reflection in my garage window for the last couple days. IMG_1038.JPG

When not distracted by the cardinal dulling her beak I finished the install of this LED light (as mentioned in the "relay required" thread in the tech forum). With it's ribbed matte finish and hooded lens it had the militaresque look I'm going for, but it came from the ReStore scrap bin so I suspect it might have been meant for interior applications. Will be interesting to see how long it lasts after riding in the rain.
How does it work? A quick test in the darkened garage shows that it casts a great shadow of the front wheel off to the port side.
At the very least I now have a light while camping that doesn't require use of the key.IMG_1044.JPG
