We Know you Ride, But do you Shoot?

Re: We know you ride, but do you Shoot?

CGN is down...

Dunno what I usually do at work...

Re: We know you ride, but do you Shoot?

Now how am I supposed to prep for our impending doom...

Re: We know you ride, but do you Shoot?

Come on Blaney.

Re: We know you ride, but do you Shoot?

Oh yeah that thing. It's at 2pm.

I suspect not much of anything will change. Maybe built-in ATTs? That'd be nice.

Re: We know you ride, but do you Shoot?

Nice!

Figures CGN is down for a huge announcement.... lol. Gonna be a gong-show when its back up.

Hopefully more comes out of it though.. otherwise I called it, not much change other than built-in ATTs. That's good, but not a huge deal at all.

Re: We know you ride, but do you Shoot?

I'm wondering if you would be able to fire restricted guns on others private property, something similar to a NR rifle?

Re: We know you ride, but do you Shoot?

Unless a lot more is tabled, no, that would have nothing to do with ATTs.

The way I see it, they're just gonna remove the 'paper' part of an ATT. The conditions simply become built into your licence and don't need renewal. The only immediate bonus I see is you would no longer need to be a member of a gun club, which is nice.

You need to be a member to hold a valid LTATT, it's a condition thats right on the ATT printout itself...

I see what your saying, but if you didn't have a place to fire the gun, it wouldn't matter if you had a LTATT or it was built into your licence.

Well I guess you could move it around easier?
I guess you wouldn't have to get an att each time you moved it, does cut down on bs paperwork hopefully there is more to it

It makes several things easier.. you won't have to get temp ATTs for trips to a store or gunsmith, and possibly even for the post office. You also won't need to worry about invitations to clubs/ranges where you aren't a member.

As for shooting, I doubt those regulations will change. Restricted firearms will still only be legal to shoot at approved ranges. If you don't have one nearby, tough luck.

Don't forget, some restricted firearm owners are just collectors, and have never gone anywhere with their restricted firearms, as they don't shoot.....

I have a few buddies that are just like that, they have a great collection, but have no desire to shoot.....

as for the news article, if all they wrote is put in place, it would be a great step forward......actually better in some instances, I like the mandatory firearms course part, at least on this level you can see who might not be suited for a firearm and stop them, train them, then issue them a license....

I was hoping for more sweeping changes for the firearms act. Perhaps something like eliminating 'by name' restriction/prohibition of firearms which by their attributes should be classified as non-restricted. Meh.

Re: We know you ride, but do you Shoot?

The announcement will be followed by a forum of sorts. I don't put it passed the Conservative government to announce something small but significant and put into force something more sweeping and dramatic

or by "looks" as in the AR, it does not need to be restricted, such an awesome platform for a hunting rifle, yet it's restricted.....

I don't think the regulations say anything about shooting a restricted only at a club, but since you can't bring your gun anywhere other then the range or a gunsmith the you couldn't really shoot it anywhere else? Unless it's your property. Maybe I'm wrong but that's what my instructor said
