We Know you Ride, But do you Shoot?

Is the new handgun sale ban applying to private sale?

I still see crazy prices on Gunpost Glock 44 | GUNPOST
Apparently private transfers still allowed. Steaming turd that JT is so proud of but will do approximately zero to stem gun violence. Similar to automatic weapons ban. Existing holders are ok but no new authorized holders. Should shorten the queue of gang bangers waiting for their restricted PAL.

Under the regulations, people can still own and use their existing registered handguns and sell or transfer handguns to "exempted individuals or businesses

According to the government, exempted individuals include anyone who already holds an authorization to carry handguns . . .

My restricted just came in the mail last week, found out quickly it's pretty well useless at the moment unless can find a private sale at reasonable price/specification I'm looking for. Very frustrating. I read something like in a normal year there are about 45k transfers of ownership, and within a week of Trudeau's announcement close to 60,000 transfers happened.
Police still pulling over stolen vehicles and finding loaded, unlawful guns though

I am waiting for my restricted was hoping it would beat the law change. Will I still be able to transfer a private sale even now?

Sent from the future

All over. Any transfers from before today seem to be covered. I got my 686 revolver a week or so ago luckily and it’s awesome. Slick and accurate. Time to stock up on spare parts for the handguns for the rest and shift to precision rifles for me.

My son has been waiting on his Restricted since January -- they are very slow.

You can still get restricted rifles with shortened barrels. Those can be as much fun as a handgun.

Not cheap but….

Did my course in Feb, was lazy and didn't submit it until April or May. Was glad to see it come in, only to be let down with the ban.
1000 comments saying what a ******** he is. Another murder last night in Toronto as well.

Didn’t criminals get the memo? Foolish foolish foolish.

AFAIK private transfers are not technical allowed. an ATC (authorization to carry) is only for special individuals.
source: Law unless I am reading it wrong. No 'normal' firearm owner falls under the exemption categories.
So unless you have a transfer pending everyone is stuck with whatever they already have or something changes (legislation).

Every time I see this thread pop up to the top, I think of the GTAM shooting meet that used to happen at one of the gun clubs (was it Silverdale?). It would be cool if another could be arranged for those of us who don't actually own any guns ourselves, but would still like to do some shooting. My personal interest is shotgun (skeet/trap), but anything's better than nothing. Not sure if the rules have changed so that you need a license just to even handle one now, though.

Trust issues with strangers handling firearms may come into play. I regularly take guests along to my place but I know them well.

Friendly competition is fun though but most times I actually enjoy shooting alone. Like riding it’s my zen pastime.

No licence required as long as licence holder is nearby.

There will be a Rorschach test if I do this in the summer but it would also be a bit of a ride (Napanee) and outside of .22 (and the boutique .22) there would need to be a contribution for ammo.

I would love to go for this type of meet.

I’m normal I swear! I’m sure some GTAMers could vouch for me…but their ‘normal’ may be in question….

Just to clarify, I believe in the meetup I was thinking, the club supplied the guns as well as ammo for a fee, so there was no need for people to share their personal equipment.

Found it. Here's the old thread:

Here's the club's page on public range days:
