Veteran RCMP officer stripped of his uniform for publicly smoking medical marijuana

oh, how convenient! A fine article in the paper.
The truth will be exposed soon, and the stupidity should come to an end so we can focus on some real problems.

After 55 months of exhaustive research, the commissioners found the penalties for marijuana to be “grossly excessive.” They recommended decriminalizing possession and drastically lessening charges for trafficking.

The passage of time has only reinforced that finding. As a 2002 Senate study reported, “The (Le Dain) Commission concluded that the criminalization of cannabis had no scientific basis. We confirm this conclusion and add that continued criminalization of cannabis remains unjustified based on scientific data on the danger it poses.”

Yet the report was ignored by politicians and largely forgotten by the public. In the 40 years since, Canadian police forces have recorded at least two million marijuana-related violations. Last year the Harper government introduced mandatory minimum sentences for growing as few as six pot plants.

Good job Harper, you're a real winner buddy!

Someone should check and see if he has a slot in his robotic back where the batteries go...

If only more people listened to those leftist pinkos who wanted/want to decriminalize pot! ;)

I was talking about the benefits of pot. Did I get that wrong?

It has been proven that pot relieves chronic pain - not some bs that some high school kids brag about like "I don't feel pain". I use pot to help me sleep through the night because when I don't, I usually wake up every 1 1/2-2 hours throughout the night. The rough nights occurred way before I even touched pot. I started when I was 21.

It has also been proven that kids are effected negatively in terms of brain development but not for adults.

I think it should be regulated like alcohol and enforced the same. It obviously isn't safe to be operating machinery/vehicles under mind-altering drugs but like alcohol (mind-altering drug), people will do it anyways whether it is legal or illegal.

I kind of doubt adults drink until they're drunk in front of their kids - why can't that be done with pot? I smoke when the kid I live with is asleep.

In response to the OP, I think that it is wrong that someone is under the influence of pot while at work. Work is work - you wouldn't show up to work drunk would you? Although I have worked with fully grown men operating fork lifts while drunk...

Prison Industrial Complex - #2 big business in the US iirc if not in the top 5.

Harper Government = building more prisons. You got to keep the Law Enforcement Apparatus busy or you don't need as much of it and also his "buddies" get the contracts for building the prisons.

Weed argument - I think people should force the Government to prove that it's dangerous. Bombard them with petitions, sit ins and whatever else that brings attention.

Have you noticed all the crap the Government allow out into the open and only until people start getting hurt then they start a study. Big business runs the Government, look at the cellphone industry. There is no proper study that I am aware of to prove cellphones and the towers are safe.

It's a bunch of old people still at the top. Did they really need to take 55 months to figure this out yet it only took them 5 weeks to implement Bill172? I know, two different things but the common denominator is the Government.

It really demonstrates how stupid we are in that we allow them to make people believe alcohol is safer than weed.
To the Weeders out there I suggest the next time someone says that weed is dangerous ask them if they tried it, then ask them if they drink. If they say no to the weed then ask them how would they know. It would be like explaining what the color blue looks like to a person born without eyes.

Did you fall off your bike and hit your head in the last couple days? Or did your account get hacked?
