Verizon possibly coming to CAN and the three stoogers are scared ********!!

A little birdie told me, and let me make this clear, its strictly *rumour* at this point, that RIM may be joining in the bidding for the wireless spectrum.

What do they have up their sleeve?

Some say it may have to do with this recent deal with Panasonic, where they are moving to do over the air updates to cars in the future perhaps via their own wireless network?

I have a very, very hard time believing that. That would be an idiotic move, even for RIM. It would be a complete waste of money and spectrum.

In addition to purchasing the spectrum, they would then have to build up their own, brand new, international wireless network to take advantage of it. This as opposed to the much more cost-effective solution of just piggy-backing on an existing network (much like Amazon does with the Kindle on the Rogers network.)

There was some big business deal or divestment involving Verizon in the UK today. Might have something to do with that.

I just have to post this here. So I decided to leave Rogers Internet, decided to go with Teksavvy. While having my service disconnected the lady on the phone keep pestering me to stay, asking me why I'm leaving. I told them a i get better pricing elsewhere plus your rates are increasing next month. She told me the rates are the same everywhere, yada yada. Once a liar, always a liar. I end up having to tell her I'm calling not to debate my cancellation but to be cancelled. It was the only way to get her to the point.

Fast forward a few weeks, I just got a letter in the mail asking me to rejoin with them for a $15 coupon. My question is if you don't care for me as a customer when I was there with you why do you think I would care when I already moved on? Bunch of retards at that place.

Just getting this off my chest

It's the new way the carriers are doing business. A lot of people threaten to cancel to gain better deals and the companies are now calling their bluff. It's a stupid way of customer service. Offer us a good competitive deals upfront that's better than the ones you offer for new subscribers and you have loyalty. We recently switched from Bell to Rogers and my mom blasted the rep from bell asking why is she calling now instead of when she was a customer. :lmao:

I am really surprised Rogers has been in business for this long. With their business attitude you'd think they'll tank in a year. But hey, when there's a monopoly things are different

Didn't the guys in "retention" offer you any good deals to stay?

I left Acanac about 1.5 years ago because my contract came up just after about a month of very poor service. I also don't agree with their 'deal' for new customers, but old customers get the shaft.

Anyway, Rogers gave me a great deal when I switched. I am on the Express plan which is 25mbps up, 2 down and 80gb cap. They gave me a deal at $40/month including modem rental. After the first year that jumped up to the regular price of $54.99/month plus modem rental.

All I had to do was call them up and straight away said "I want to cancel my account, can you put me through to retention?" With the retention guy, I told them I want to cancel because I am going to start.ca which offers the same package but more data for $39.99/month. He asked about installation (free at start if coming from cable) and the modem (that is an extra cost I would have had).

After he checked the price I quoted, he offered me $20 off every month... so once again I am paying $40/month including the modem rental. 80gb is sometimes a bit on the low side, but rogers has been very reliable. It sucks that I have to call them back every year and threaten to leave to get this deal, but at least that is easier than switching companies and dealing with the downtime/installation appointments, etc.

Hey Mike. See, you're just supporting the ****ers.

I would have switched to Start if i was with Rogers just to reward the 3rd party ISPs...without them, only thing left is Rogers or Bell and then you can call and threaten to leave and they'll call your bluff!

I'm with Teksavvy and i love it. Just switched from TS DSL to TS Cable and couldnt be more happier with the speed of connection (maxed out), time to switch services over, everything.

I'm with Teksavvy 45/4, 300gb plan and its $54 a month. I bought the modem. Thats their everyday deal, why should i call my ISP and constantly have to threaten to leave so i can maintain the same or slightly lower price point.

You got any hunting in this year Mike?

I've gone thru that cycle several times. Need a bit of fresh air. I'm also not intrigued by going thru retentions every year and when my contract is finished, I am surprised by a rediculously large bill. With Teksavvy, I'm on no contract, I have the option of using my own modem and I get more bandwidth for the same price. The only offset is there is no live agents on the phone. I have to wait over 30mins.

I thought I'll give them a try since its no contract. I really really hate Roger's business practices

You're going to be getting a lot of those letters. Congrats on switching to Teksavvy.

Here's an update for ya'll, empty your pockets, the biggest crook in Canada needs 9 million smackers for......pure nonsense!!!

Keep focusing on the fat Mayor people, while Harper robs us blind.
Now i'll expect some of the sheep to defend their criminal leader.

I'll be the first to say I'm shocked our fearless leader would pull anything while the focus is on the fat crackhead. Shocking stuff

$9 mil is a drop in the bucket. The total amount of money the Harper government has spent on ads patting itself on the back is probably staggering.

I love how hard Rogers and Belll complained about bringing in more companies to compete with. They cried about all the possible job cuts etc. Yet as soon as the deal with Verizon is dead, Rogers manages to come up with 12 billion to buy out all the NHL games in Canada.
Get ready for a cable and internet increase. With the typical statement due to increase in infrastructure costs etc......I can't believe how the CRTC allows these guys to do whatever they want.....
