Ugh.I hate buying 4 wheeled vehicles. We have decided that the "Turney" seat is the way to go for my wife.I thought it would be compatible with our Tacome. But it's not.

Heres the list.

Strictly from an easy-use view, I vote Grand Caravan
But not sure what other uses you will need it for.

It will be used for groceries and doctor visits.Probably 5k/yr max

Have you contacted any of the companies that do conversions? They may have a custom solution they do that would work.

Then I like the Caravan even more.
I know everyone says they won't drive a minivan, but for practicality, I love them.
Roomy.
Low to the ground (especially compared to your Tacoma) -- I would think this should be a consideration for your wife as well, but I may be wrong.
They are also relatively inexpensive and iirc the transmission issues have been resolved.

Did you have a thread about alternative vehicle choices before? I was gonna mine it for a suggestion but now I'm thinking that I imagined it

My 5 yr old grandson and i play a game when we're out. Calling out the vehicles name quickest. Minivans don't count. "Minivan...Bah".

My son loves my VOLT....hated the WRX because it was 'too loud'...

EDIT: @Wingboy is this something that looks like your Tacoma?

I assume these are pricey enough that you don't want to make a mistake. New vehicle and chair lift and it doesn't work would be bad news. There are some serious geometries involved in the vehicle and they have to match the geometries of the user.

Can your wife assist in the transfer of weight by standing a little or is that too risky?

A widow neighbour (90+ YO) is presently recovering in hospital from a broken hip. When she gets back to her house she may need some assistive devices.

Do you need 90 degree opening doors? I know the Honda CRV has those.
In the world of "If you have enough money anything is possible" how expensive are Lambo or gull wing doors to install? Assuming they don't leak. Some vans have them but reviews aren't stellar.

Ya, pricey.$11k+ installed. She needs help transferring from wheelchair to chair/seat. The supplier needs to confirm make and model before purchase. And the closest installed is 50 min away. Sigh.

Braun is the name I almost always see when it comes to mobility products. You are on the right track with them for sure. They or their installers are going to know the best vehicles for your families specific application hands down. I would start with their suggestions and then go on some test drives.

Feel like driving to lethbridge? Autotrader has a caravan with ~150K km with a Turney installed for $5000. Cheap enough to keep the Taco for you if you wanted.

What was the wheelchair van manufacturer that used to be in Mississauga/Oakville? Strange name, south side of highway. I used to have acquaintances that worked there but I can't remember what it was called.

If it's near Mississauga and you need a place to park for a few days let me know as I've got the space here.

Braun mobility turney seat fits 150 vehicles per the brochure, and Toyota sienna , highlander, and Tundra pickup, all F150s and Chev 1500s Ram 1500s. Not for a taco.

with a vehicle compatibility list of 150 ? how hard can this be ?

True.A lot of them are repeats but with different trim levels. Shouldn't be hard to choose. The Rav4 is looking good for our needs. I think my Toyota dealer will give me good trade in value for the Taco.

My Highlander is the nicest vehicle I’ve ever had if that’s an option. Had a buddy with an injured leg from surgery in it and he raved about how much room there was for him in the front.

I was going say it's sucks to be buying now but you should get top dollar for the taco at least. I'm in the market for wheels but everything's a little whack right now.
