Vehicle choices

The routine we have now is strange. Wheelchair at 90 deg to door, stand her up holding each other's elbows, shuffle her to the open car door, sit her into the car on the padded transfer disc. Pick her legs up and put them in. Then i get into the back seat, reach around and grab the waistband of her pants. Haul her up into the seat. Ugh.
That doesn't sound fun. My dad still walks, getting him into the standing position beside the seat is easy. He shuffles back then sits on the seat itself sideways, all we have to grlp with is swinging his legs in, which twists him into position comfortably.

He's a 5'11 175lbs and so far it's easy. Mom is 5,1 100lbs no way she could manage what you do.

I have had my Yaris for almost 10 years and the power locks still piss me off. Flip the key once and only the drivers door unlocks. Twice unlocks everything. I'm constantly finding myself having to go back and hit the door unlock button because I now need something out of the back seat or hatch.
I get that it's a safety thing for women late at night but it's stuck in my craw since I got it. And anyone who really knows me, knows I'm more of a safety third kind of guy.
Press and hold the lock and unlock button for about 4 seconds. should fix your problem. otherwise Toyota can program it for you.

She doesn't want anyone to see her in a wheelchair. No way would she get in those. Really good idea tho.
Where there is life there is hope and conversely where there is hope there is life.

We all hold onto things in hope of returning to a better or more opportune time. There is no way I'm throwing out those old running shoes. I may do a marathon some day. (Yeah right, for me that was 50 years and 50 pounds ago.)

To me it's a sign of not wanting to give up. It's not all bad unless it's destructive.

Sometimes an alternate looks better. A walking stick looks jauntier than a cane. Plus the longer walking stick can smack someone further away.

A convertible would make things easier if you could control the weather. The downside is the seats are usually lower as they are usually based on a sedan chassis. Maybe a Jeep?

I gather that a wheelchair is needed but has to be minimized.

Is this on the fob? Or on the door? Then I should expect all the doors to unlock at once?

Press and hold the lock and unlock button on the remote for a 4-5 seconds and you'll hear a beep. You have now programmed your remote to unlock all the doors with one press. Do it a second time to reverse the process.
