Yeah dude, way overpriced, pig of a bike. I bought a '97 CBR900RR for $1500 or something like that not that long ago and that IMO is a better bike than that Kawi, lighter too.
For $3,000 get something newer and better handling.
Any bike from that era isn't competitive with a current 600, but... I do have a thing for those '90s bikes.
Just that the first gen ZX-9 isn't a very good one.... the Thunderace, Fireblade, GSX-R 1100 and the later ZX-9's were better.
Now, are any of those bikes good starter bikes... lol no. For a budget of $3k there are some nice first gen SV650's on kijiji, those would be way better.

He's got the uvip, wouldn't be too hard to get an ownership but not many people would be willing to put in the work in = offer him a crazy low price because of the no ownership and you could get a steal of a bike.Im not interested in a bike that doens't have ownership/titles
Please show me

Bikes that I'd look at instead in the $3-4k range:
1st gen SV650 - Carbed but light, low seat height, have a good following:

2nd gen SV650 - Fuel injected, a bit more popular, harder to find for under $5k:

Kawasaki Ninja 500 - light, 60hp, a bit dated-looking but does everything well:

Ninja 650 - Replacement for Ninja 500, fuel injected, similar to the SV650:

Yamaha YZF600 - an old sport bike that turned into a sport touring bike, great reviews, but can fall under sport insurance:

Suzuki Bandit 600 - my first bike, slower and heavier but comfty and cheaper than SV's:

Honda F4/F4i - A supersport bike but from what I've heard, more comfortable and beginner-friendly. The F4i was injected and a little improved, but more $$$:

Yamaha FZ6 - Similar to an SV or a Bandit, Fuel injected, detuned R6 motor:

great bikes, not in my price range
maybe he doesn't want to answer because It is no ones business ...I guess
Not sure if you are trolling or looking for a bike for real.
All those bikes are in your range, you bargain to get them. Learn how to negotiate, all sellers are flexible. Even if it says price is firm, if you have a wad of cash in your hand they will sell.
*Edit
After reading the legal age to bike motorcycle thread. This guy is like 16 lol
Plans to buy a bike most likely for posing. Riding is not about the engine size, even a 50cc scooter will keep me smiling all day.
buy this one, prob get it for less than asking and insurance is good on these http://toronto.kijiji.ca/c-cars-veh...ing-2003-Suzuki-GSX-Katana-W0QQAdIdZ468462521
Important Points:
- If you get serious, get insurance quotes. Especially with sportier bikes (F4, YZF), sometimes they fall under supersport insurance and can cost twice as much to insure. I wanted to buy a YZF600R but didn't because of the surcharge.
- If you're really stuck on a supersport bike, State Farm is more competitive for them.
- Save up for the following very important gear:
- Leather Gloves with gauntlets;
- A good helmet (look up the UK Sharp Helmet Tests)
- A good jacket, preferably leather with protective pads;
- Full-length boots with ankle support;
- Pants, preferably leather with padding.
- If you really want to ride a supersport bike, and ride it well, save for a track course or get some books. Here's some good books:
- A Twist of the Wrist;
- A Twist of the Wrist II;
- Sport Riding Techniques by Nick Ienatsch
Those bikes including tax, registration, safety/diagnoses will be way over my budget. Im eighteen this year and theres no shame in admitting it. I was uneducated in the laws of registering a bike because service ontario doesn't seem to pick up their phone as well as my brother telling me otherwise. Don't see why you're getting intrigued that someone has a motorcycle question on a motorcycle forum.
I guess we have different passions for riding then, it's a great thing everyone is different in this world.
Thanks for the suggestion, messaged seller.
Stop being a joker... zx9 and 18yo do not mix. Myself being 18 when I started last year could guarantee your premiums will significantly be over $10 000/yr for full coverage. (I got quoted for a R6 - TD)
Good luck with whatever you do.
Nobody is trying to argue with you, but you being only 18, and most of us being much older, and more experienced in everything, are trying to help you out, and you really are not making much sense if that a certain bike is too much but your willing to pay an astronomical amount for insurance. You seem to be getting upset with some of our comments, and they are only being made because we are all trying to guide you in the right direction and yes you do sound like you know what you want, but some of the things you have said have obviously put up flags. But whatever, most of us don't care either way what you do.
As for that Katana, nice bike, but still going to cost you a fortune in insurance, **** a Ninja 250 is going to cost you a fortune. But since you seem to have more money to spend on insurance than you do on a bike and gear, have fun.
I've only read your initial post so I'm not sure what info you are getting, but depending on how old it is, I advise grabbing a compression tool and test each cylinder to see if its in spec. Only if the bike is over 15k do I think this is very necessary
