Ukraine anyone?

Its no american idol...

Good to see the people dropping the definite article the before Ukraine. That was getting old.

Scary situation, the EU really needs to get off their *** and stand behind Ukraine.

Don't worry they have to. Treaty Ukraine signed in 1994 or so with the US, UK and Russia agreed that in exchange for giving up their nuclear weapons that their territorial borders will be protected.

There's going to be all kinds of fireworks.

I don't think Dumbama or the EU are going to do much at all.

We'll see

Mike, I guess we're even. I insult Rob Ford whom you like, and you insult Obama whom I like.

I don't like Ford.

I insult Obama because of what he is actually doing to what once was the great United States of America. If you're actually following anything that's happening down there with any attention to detail and you still openly say you like him, well, I guess denial is your middle name.

cheers.

PS, don't forget our little education session about Dumbamacare. If you've attempted to follow it since we had that session, you'd realize the train wreck is accelerating.

P.P.S. if you actually understand what Obamadon'tcare really is all about then you should be shaking in your boots.....

USA was ruined by bush and bush. The republicans are preventing Obama from accomplishing much.

Politics is a good example of how personal biases colour what we see.

:)

Nice cop out. Obama is in his second term. He's had more than enough time to "fix" whatever whomever you like to blame for their problems. But of course Obama isn't fixing their problems he's to busy shredding the constitution and hurling the US towards at best a socialist disaster.

The republicans are stopping him? Pray tell, how exactly are they doing that? And while you're at it please tell me what, precisely, is Obama trying to do to fix their problems that the Pubs are stopping them from doing?

Back on topic Scheller,

How do you feel about Obama's statement on the current situation in the Ukraine?

Do you think the US will actually do anything?

So what are you saying? The Pubs stopped them? (clearly they didn't because there was a sequestration...)

What happened to all the "hope and change" he promised? Don't tell me he didn't know what he was getting in to, his entire platform was based on "hope and change" and how he'd do it differently and make America Strong again.

Or is it that because he shut the fed down for a while that proves he's a good guy and worthy of admiration?

Care to comment on his EO's, bypassing congress on healthcare, immigration, marriage, and welfare rules, spying on his own people, the absolute outright lies and debacle on obamcare, it's website, supposed cost savings to the people and on and on?

But of course we're off the topic of this thread again let's get back to:

as for what he'll do, I have no clue. What would you do if you were in charge?

We're not talking about what I'd do, you brought up your love for Obama, saying you like him. I'm asking him why you do, and in keeping with the topic of this thread, I'm asking you for your opinion on Obama's statement about the Ukraine. If he's so great, I'm sure he'll do great things.

Like I said, I have no clue what he might do. It's not a simple problem is it? Putin is not a model of rationality. More like a loose nuke.

whatever he decides to do, I'm sure it will be more intelligent that bush's search for weapons of mass destruction, and his war on drugs domestically.

You are starting to sound a lot like a politician. Your hands are typing but you are not actually saying anything. Who cares about bush, we're talking about the guy currently lying his way through running the show.

My guess is Obama is too busy shredding the constitution to worry about honoring the US legal obligations to defend the Ukraine.

If there ever was a liar, Obama is it.

Politics is a good example of how personal biases colour what we see.

You and me both.

Republicans, Conservatives and hillbillies used to say "bomb it and pave it" in reference to any country "over there" that wasn't "co-operating". Does that still fly?

The US won't do anything. They're nearly bankrupt fighting 2 countries that couldn't come up with 1% of Russias military power if you put them together. They don't have the money or the will back home to borrow against their grandchildren's great-grandchildren's future to fight for some country that most Americans don't know which continent it's located on.

What's gonna happen is that Russia will finally get Crimea back (Khrushchev took it away from Russia and assigned it to Ukraine in 1954), the European union will get the rest of Ukraine and the entire country will get screwed by the EU. Everybody wins but the Ukrainian people. They would have been better-served by being a sovereign country and developing closer ties with Russia, but because the EU wanted to colonize them, they astroturfed the Nazi putsch right after the cleptocrat in power made one decision that would have been in his people's interest (for a change). 2nd best outcome for the Ukrainians would have been for the country to split into East and West, but the EU know, that without the pro-Russian Eastern Ukraine, the country isn't worth plundering, so they won't allow that or any separatism/annexations north of Crimea.
