I've gotta do PA at some point!
Same. One of these days...someday.
Just go. Do it. Life is short. PA is close. Check out motorcycleroads.com and plot a few good rides and do it.
You were not too far from the Kinzua bridge collapse, the Austin Dam collapse and the Centralia ghost town. Maybe next time.
Kinzua bridge is awesome. If you don't like heights, perhaps less so, but still doable lol.
Don't get me wrong, it's a lot of fun to travel with a group but there's just something about travelling alone on your own terms.
I'm super lucky that the 2 friends I travel with regularly are so easy to get along with. We're all on the same page 99.9999% of the time, and that tiny fraction of the time we're not, we find a solution in seconds with no drama. It's always a pleasure.
Yeah, I ride solo sometimes, my last night coming back from WV was solo. The only thing that changes is that I ride a lot farther between stops, sometimes 3-4 hours. But I do miss the company in the end.
I do however understand the whole big group of random people thing where it turns into herding cats and tensions flare when not everyones plans or expectations jive with each other. That can be stressful.
You just have to find your tribe.
I think of it more as freedom.
Be honest how many times a day do you "check" your phone.
You know how many times a day I check my phone?
My phone is an extension of of many things and I don't consider it a "Ball and chain" like some do. I had lunch at a Costco today and an odler fellow came up and asked to share my table with me, sat down, and immediately commented about how he doesn't have a phone because of the "ball and chain" thing. I asked him if he read newspapers and he said "Yeah, good old fashioned like that!". I flipped my screen around and showed him that I was actually reading the newspaper. He didn't quite know what to make of that.
And yeah, as someone else mentioned, being able to keep in touch with friends and family and see pics of their kids, their adventures, their vacations at times when we can't get together because of time or distance, well, side bonus. Some people come home and do that sort of stuff on their desktop or laptop at the end of the day, but doing it on your cellphone is no different.
