Shogun .....Aw that sucks ...was going to binge the last few episodes.
I enjoyed it. But it was basically the exact opposite of what I expected to happen.
It's well worth watching.

Yeah Shogun ending wasn't great, but kinda sets up S2. Though with the loss of one of the main characters, I lost a lot of interest.

I didn’t mind the ending… the death of the main character followed by consequences.
The flashbacks from old age to “60ish years earlier” was interesting enough.
And season 2 has definitely been set up. They left it on a bit of a political cliffhanger.
All in all, the exposure to Classical Japanese culture is fantastic. I’ve always been interested in that period culture, and this makes it so much easier to understand.
I felt the same when I read the books...I knew very little about Japan of that era and was fascinated. Japanese society felt strange enough in the 70s when I went on business. The Clavell books were good fun and informative. Re-read them a couple years back.
2 episodes into Sugar on AppleTV…not really digging it. Maybe just not my genre but I like the actors but can’t get into it.

I feel anytime a show or movie shows a "future" flashback, it loses suspense and is pretty much done. "Oh this person is alive 40yrs later? so any trouble they get themselves into they will eventually get out of and there's no chance they will die" At that point the character is in god mode, gets boring quick.

Wait, I thought it got canceled after season 2? I really enjoyed the show.

I could see that catching on, very Canadian eh!
This friend has an extremely quick wit, an encyclopedic knowledge of ephemera, and has created several memes that many people here would recognize (though he gets no credit for them).
