the usual gorgeous photography but I cannot tell if streaming in 4k Netflix :(
It is but my slightly older Samsung through the FireTV4k does not show up HDR10 on screen while the TCL shows HDR10 on screen when going direct to screen. Now certainly not a deal breaker but.... :(

I think it is showing HDR10 tho.
The same stream through the laptop in 4k is not as vivid as the FireTV4k feed and the dynamic range appears more vivid than though the laptop.
ALways helps to have the HDR10 on on the TV 🤪

Boy Swallows Universe .....very Straylian....love the currawongs. Both kids are terrific. 🍿
Filmed in Brisbane.
Really enjoying this and like Shantaram it feels real....unlike fictional stories...this is semi-autobiographical and it shows.

Boy Swallows Universe is the 5th most-watched Netflix show in the world this week

Guess I'll read the book too. 📖

Prime Suspect the original very long series. 7 Seasons. Helen Mirren at her finest.
Been a long while since I've seen it. Good feed on Britbox
Incredible TV not sure I had a chance to see the entire 7 seasons. Well earned rewards.

Hell of a cameo Ralph Fiennes !!!

Hazbin Hotel.

I can’t say I’ve ever seen anything like it. It’s a cartoon. And adult cartoon… that’s a musical…

Premise is - Satan’s daughter opens a hotel to help convert sinners / demons and help them gain access to heaven. Thing is, every year, angels descend into hell and slaughter the sinners and demons. Angels, basically, are ********.

IT’s a completely absurd concept that has complerely sucked me in…. Eesh…
I was hesitant when I read your descriptions. But I’m 4 episodes in and I like it!

Grantchester on PBS. They don't really show sex or violence and of course no need for CGI and still I'm finding it quite entertaining.

I told you it was awesome!
It’s an amazingly unique twist on the whole heaven/hell thing that took a genius level of idea consolidation to achieve…. Well beyond my pay grade, and I‘m a bit of a creative myself!

I loved Prime Suspect. Helen Mirren elevated it beyond the Brit police detective cliches. Haven't seen any of Tennison yet, but I'm hoping it succeeds similarly to the way that Endeavour matched, and in some ways surpassed, the original Inspector Morse series...

Yeah Prime S really broke the procedural mold open.....tough topics, and a lot of :famous later" actors involved. Mirren is superb....then and now. - she was great in this.

Because Tennison is a prequel it is quite different and portrays her battle for acceptance in an old boys police station.
The smoking throughout tho...is a) realistic b) disgusting ....and yeah I smoked in the 70s 🤪
Martini does an excellent job portraying a "lives with parents" fledgling tossed into the fox cage that was police culture then ( and maybe now ). It was really a shame it was cancelled as it was incredibly successful but there was a conflict with the writers so cancelled after one season.

It's been so long since I've seen Prime S....and I did not see all 7 seasons....that it might as well be new for me. I didn't even recognise a future Dr Who in drag.
What amazes me is the image quality.

Also like Blue Heelers it is a reminder how terrorizing AIDS was.

I'm glad I was watching Blue Heelers while I was in recovery instead of Prime Suspect....the latter is so dark and depressing about human nature...:cautious:
Gripping TV tho. 🍿 It was remastered for a Blu Ray release

To think I was going to cancel BritBox and they came back to me with a $1 for the next month deal. I took it. (y)

Ah, shame it got killed after one series. If you enjoy the Brit police procedural, I can't recommend Endeavour highly enough. Similarly, it's a prequel to the famous Inspector Morse series, taking place in and around Oxford. Lots of bucolic period scenes, beautifully shot. Cops and criminals both quoting Latin, appreciating opera and talking philosophy, but if you remember the original Morse series, you'll know the balance can be struck. There's also good, old-fashioned British alcoholism and class divides to keep it from being too academic...

Halo S2 ep 1+2 out now

Like Charlie
When I wintered in S Africa for a few years I always meant to go shark cage diving.
So a few days before I was to leave I signed up ....woke up at 6 am on the day to a phone call cancelling. 5m waves outside the place we were staying.....no shark diving.. :( One missed adventure I regret.

Enjoying the series and learning a bit of history too. Three guys at small but bloody battle Botha, Ghandi and WInston Churchill - Charlie visits the site where the battle occurred ....the bloodiest small piece of ground anywhere is the claim.
The Brits did not do so well.

Finished up Ted - a few cuties on this show, also the mom character (Susan) was well written acted.

Had not watched much Nat'l Geo critter docus. Excellent photography and an amusing plus informative approach to tell the stories.
DIfferent than Attenborough and very engaging.
Learned a ton of stuff and got some laughs and awestruck by the photos.
But these are not stills.....rather they are filmed and part of the narrative.

We have stingless bees here ...they are an important part of the ecosyste.
Also have leaf cutter ants in the backyard and learned a ton about them.
The amount of work going into making these docus is just insane. Reason enough to get Disney.

BAFTA Awards
David Tennant excellent host.
Enjoyed that ...
..think I might have to see Poor Things in the theatre
