The first season was amazing, but then as you said, it seemed to fizzle out.Finished up S4 of Westworld. I thought at first I missed S3, but nope it just didn't seem very connected. Nolan still exploring future, past, and present, and delivered in a well done way, but seems like we are just repeating the same stuff again.
I think this is the end of the series which started off well, but fizzled for me.
I played the Cyberpunk role playing game for years, long before it ever became a video game. They stayed fairly true to it, and the way that they displayed cyberpsychosis was interesting, but they sure went in heavily for the Manga stereotypes. The only thing missing was tentacles.Been watching this:
Good so far, for a video game they really created a interesting world.Cyberpunk: Edgerunners (TV Mini Series 2022) ⭐ 8.3 | Animation, Action, Adventure
24m | TV-MAwww.imdb.com
Finding the dragon series a bit slow tho the dragons are impressive ...the political soap opera are slow and no really appealing characters to engage ala original GoT
Five seasons of this ???
The fake blonde/grey hair on Black actors is stupid distracting.
Starman = Gandalf?Hooked on Rings now after 7th Episode ...can see this will have legs.
Helps having Tolkein Nerd as partner ....she's read the Silmarillian FFS and all the codices. The Harfoot girl has amazing eyes ( like the whole Harfoot proto-hobbits. Still sorting starman tho.
I'm thinking the same about Old Man Comet. Also thinking that Halbrand ends up as a Ringwraith. This episode it finally struck me Theo/Theoden. I know that there weren't any kings that preceded him that had a similar name, but I can't shake the feeling that Theo will have something to do with the founding of Rohan.Starman = Gandalf?
Although that just seems too obvious to me.
The last 5 minutes of episode 7 were excellent.
There's a popular theory floating around the interwebs that Hallbrand is actually Sauron and that's why he and Adar know each other.I'm thinking the same about Old Man Comet. I have also read The Silmarillion. Once, decades ago. It was a slog and that's really saying something for someone who used to read mythological and religious texts, for fun.
Yeah that was our notion - partner called him a Maiar and his physical look is similar to casting in LOTRStarman = Gandalf?
Members Eönwë, Ilmarë, Ossë, Uinen, Sauron, Gandalf, Balrogs, Melian
anyways ..hooks are set.Historyedit
Their chiefs were Eönwë, banner-bearer and herald of Manwë, and Ilmarë, the handmaid of Varda.
Each of the Maiar was associated with one or more particular Vala, and were of similar stock, though less powerful. For example, Ossë and Uinen, as spirits of the sea, belonged to Ulmo, while Curumo, who came to be known in Middle-earth as Saruman, belonged to Aulë the Smith. Melian served both Vána and Estë.[1]
Others included Mairon, also originally of Aulë's people, who later became known as Sauron; Aiwendil, who was known in Middle-earth as Radagast the Brown and belonged to the people of Yavanna; and Olórin, the wisest Maia, also known as Gandalf, belonged to Manwë and Varda. The latter's ways took him often to the house of Nienna from whom he learned pity and patience, which perhaps aided him in his later struggles to unite the Free Peoples of Middle-earth against the power of Sauron.
The Blue Wizards travelled to the east, and never returned to the west. Their fate is unknown. The Balrogs, like Sauron, were Maiar corrupted by Melkor. Their associated Vala is not known.
huh? There's a popular theory floating around the interwebs that Hallbrand is actually Sauron and that's why he and Adar know each other.
Like Adar though, Theo's character is non-canonical so I would be surprised if he had such a role - but then again there is something speical about him as the sword of Morgoth/Sauron seemed to grow in his hands. You may be on to something there Rob.
I think that the sword/key thing was just a matter of Theo being "of the blood" of the humans who supported Sauron in the previous war. It was literally his and Waldreg's blood that made the blade grow. There's a popular theory floating around the interwebs that Hallbrand is actually Sauron and that's why he and Adar know each other.

Maiar are servants of what are effectively the gods of the Tolkien world (Arda). Think of them as angels and you wouldn't be too far off. They were sent to Middle Earth as wizards, appearing to be old men. They were led by Sauruman. The others were Gandalf, Radagast, and the (2) Blue Wizards.Yeah that was our notion - partner called him a Maiar and his physical look is similar to casting in LOTR

Time skips in Dragon along with cast changes makes it harder for me to get engaged

I've seen that theory about Halbrand as well. Halbrand literally means "half sword" in Saxon. OK, that's one meaning, but something like "healthy torch" doesn't make sense, in context. My thoughts on the matter are different. I think that Halbrand becomes one of the nine Nazgul; the human wearers of Rings of Power. Adar didn't seem to know him, though Halbrand knew Adar. It's a bit tropey but it would imply that Halbrand's family/people were enslaved/tortured/killed by Adar and the victim can't understand why the villain doesn't know the people he has done so much wrong to.

The timeline in this show is all over the place. A bunch of stuff is happening all at once, that was separated by hundreds, if not thousands of years in the source material. That's fine, from my point of view, because while a couple of hundred years would pass like lightning for an immortal elf, watching a show based on that would be pretty boring for the average human.
Dark Crystal which came out a few years ago on Netflix? I think I watched a couple of episodes, well done, but boring.trying to sort Dark Crystal series...
