Toronto Raptors '15/'16 season

The Raps won the season series against Miami 3-1 with Chris Bosh playing. I think we have a pretty good chance at going to the eastern conference finals.

This.
The Heat are no doubt a good team. Even though they don't have Chris Bosh, they do have Deng, Whiteside and Joe Johnson who are good players that can eat the Raptors up in different ways - and they have also had a good length of time to play without Bosh to get used to their plays. Normally I wouldn't care much about Dragic, but he has been playing really good, so between him and Wade, it should make for good guard match-ups all around. I think the one area that we can consistently beat them is our bench vs. theirs. It does seem like Miami has stepped it up a bit in the playoffs, while the Raps have stepped it down a notch.
But all of this be moot stuff, when it has already been foreseen that the Raps win in 6!

Guys, we beat Indiana 3-1 during the season too so I take the season series with a grain of salt. The playoffs is a totally different animal. Remember last year when we swept the Wizards 3-0 during the season? Yet what happened? lol

I want the Raps to win, but to win 4-2 against the Heat seems unrealistic to me. The difference maker will be our bench so hopefully they pull through!

How many times has the Heat made it to the play offs?
How many titles do the Heat have?

The Raptors have 2 key guys they seem to rely on.
If either of them is not 100% then you are down to 1.5 guys.
Just sayin'

I hope they win of course but it just seems they are make it on a prayer instead of all out domination.

Well it's a different team then it was when James was there. Either way it looks like raps are the underdog in this series but I wouldn't count them out.

To say after KL and DD we have only 1.5 players isn't true imo. I think they're pretty deep actually

You are underestimating the Heat's play-off experience. Plus Wade is healthy I heard somewhere else ....
I think it's about the match ups. If they can hold our back court like indy did then it'll be tough for raps.

I do get the playoff experience which I'm hoping raps finally can relax after winning the first series

Yes, indeed it was one guy who took them down .... actually more than once over the years.

The problem is that Miami has too many guys who can take a game into their own hands and do so in the playoffs as well. One of them takes a day off, there's someone else to step in ... just too deep for us.

Anyway, I hope for a good and entertaining series, whatever the result.

And Kyle drops the mic

This team hasn't been the same since Lowry's elbow injury in March.

I don't have a good feeling for this series.

Aside from Lowry and Demar, the rest of the team is largely doing okay. Cory Joseph did not have a good game last night, but he has been a great energy back up to Lowry, just the way Bismack has been solid in backing up JV. Terrence Ross has been playing surprisingly balanced on offense and defense. Patterson has missed some open looks, but he has been a great floor spacer and defensive presence. Powell has been great overall. JV has been great overall except for some early foul troubles, which can be common for his position anyways - I think he is so underutilized, given how much better he has become. Carrol is another good floor spacer and brings awesome energy and defensive attitude.

The biggest problems I keep seeing have been the iso black hole that is Derozan and Kyle's really poor shooting and careless turnovers. When I was watching that game last night, I was kept thinking that if these problems get marginally better, the Raps are a solid team and can and should beat Miami in 7 games. Without DeRozan on the floor the ball movement is pretty decent - it would be nice if he took 10 less shots per game and Terrence Ross, 2Pat and JV each took 3-4 more shots per game.

That said, Miami played a good game last night with good composure on the road.

well well well :)

typical Raps, get a decent lead then coast, other teams catches up and surpasses
typical Raps, wait until the last minute of game to play hard and from deficits

In the last 2 minutes Caroll was in the box (free throw line) and ran around passed it back to someone way out, then run around, dribble dribble, pass,
that person shooooots....brick

You get that last second chance for overtime, only to do what, be down by 6 then 8 then whatever. Then you hoped to win in the last 40 seconds.

get the ball, shoot the damn thing, run in for rebound. JV is doing his job to get the rebounds but there were 3 times JV should have taken the shot around the free throw line, he passed. One moment he stood there and the announcers even said he needs to go for the 3, instead he waited, waited, waited, passed. It only makes more sense to take the shot the closer you are to the rim instead of passing it back out and taking the long shot (if you have a Curry then go for it, but you don't).

Like I said between KL and DD they were only playing at 1.5% manpower.

I was watching Wade, that guy is a very smart player. He is like a ninja, he knows where to be.
JV did a very decent job but he has to take the damn shot instead of passing all the time.

It's like hockey/soccer, closer you are to the net, shoot the puck, more likely to go in.
The Raps did well with rebounds, so not problem there.
What's that Gretzky quote about taking the shot...

Raps are tired

Raps are tired

I get what you are saying, but "shoot the damn thing" is the problem with the raps - they need to SET IT UP! Too many times, someone from the raps brings the ball up the court, stops and shoots. no passing, no play, not even a pick-and-roll. wtf.

JV KILLED it last night: he was getting so confident in the 1st that he started shooting, and ****ing it up. I was saying: "dude, just play your role as big-man and stop trying to do it all" cuz he started missing shots (like 3 in a row).

Typical raps offense has two guys just standing around while 2-3 others are running the offense, or someone just shoots. Look at every other successful team, that ISN'T based on one or two star players: they ALL move the ball really really well. Our team LOOKS like it's just two dudes, but it's far from that. Two dudes get the spotlight, but if you look at the numbers, our team has serious depth. Carroll, Powell, Patterson, JV, Joseph even Ross (who I hate) can deliver good offensive stats. We need to move it around.

The only time we should be having someone run up and shoot is if they 1) they have nailed the last two consecutive shots, and 2) there's someone in the post.

I can recall Casey encouraging our guys to "hurry-up" last night, which isn't bad for us, because we usually do well on fast-breaks, but no one had the hot hand last night; wildly inconsistent shooting. Successful shooting relies on confidence, and our lack of veterans is a vulnerability because confidence is broken easily with our young guys. Thats why the Heat killed us in OT; Wade was so composed and he led everyone to just "chill out and play ball", whereas our young guys were nervous and scrambling.

It will be a good series, probably 6-7 games. Dunno who's gonna win tho. GO RAPS GO!!!

I think Miami played like ****, pacers were so much better. I think raptors played even worse than their worse game against Indiana.

This is going to be walk in the park if raptors play "a little better"

Why does everyone hate Ross, he is one of my favorites players. Once he gets consistency and tights his game up, watch out for him.

let's get ready to rummmmmble again tonight.

Miami at home...
score predictions
Miami 98
Raps 89

* I am not a big bball follower/fan. I just noticed over the years that the Raps always blow big leads and the game comes down to the last 1 minute for them.
They never seem to have a comfortable win...it's like they say if only we had another 30 seconds we would have won, we were on a run.

ok enter your predicted scores :)

D go troll at the Maple Leafs thread, they deserve your awesomenes.

In another note:
See what I am saying Ross haters... watch out for him
