To be masked or not to be masked

A-maz-ing. Polling morons (we've elected JT three times) to determine how they feel about vaccine efficacy. And traditional media whines when they say they are dying. What trash.

One-in-five vaccinated Canadians say COVID-19 boosters don't prevent serious illness: Poll

22% of Canadians feel boosters offer no protection against COVID-19, variants: Poll

I damned-near get whiplash from rolling my eyes every time that someone releases a poll about how people *feel* about something that is factually quantifiable.

And when it comes to JT and, previously, for Wynne/McGuinty, I put the blame squarely on opposition parties that fail to offer a viable alternative. As much as I hate it if all that they're going to offer me is far Right whack jobs and virtual Communists, I'll be voting for JT.

The science gets confusing. Only federal trains spread covid?

Kids are on their way home from Vegas. They went to the airport there three hours early. Spent 2 1/2 hours waiting at the gate. Security line was empty. It seems to be a Pearson or possibly Canada thing. Hope they can get their luggage as carry on for the way back.

My wife and I were invited to an event that would have turned into a family reunion in Calgary for July 1.

With the Stampede on the near horizon, covid and air travel chaos we passed on it. It turned into a super spreader.

Quadruple win for me. I don't enjoy my in-laws that much, more cash in the bank, more stuff done at home and no Covid.

It's definitely not an issue limited to Pearson or Canada. The US and Europe have been struggling with identical problems. Schiphol in Amsterdam, the KLM hub and normally one of the best run airports in the world, has had major problems and had to make a big fuss about raising wages to try and attract workers back.

Sometimes you get lucky (my dad flew to Vancouver a couple weeks ago, and it took about 10 minutes to get through security both ways). On top of that, I could see Vegas being a place where they make darn sure nobody has to wait at the airport, as McCarran is the beating heart of their economy...

Heathrow, one of the busiest airports in the world, is a shitshow apparently. One of the issues is that the people that were let go because airlines wouldn’t keep them on/didn’t have enough business found other jobs. New staff have to have security clearance for airports so it’s not as easy to mass hire staff and get them on site quickly. Add to this a lack of aircrew as they also found new jobs. Then on top flight instructors went back to flying cargo etc as the wasn’t enough business and also now the paperwork for medical clearance for pilots and clearance for aircraft is massively delayed by admin issues.

That train is classed as a tourist attraction but it’s bad optics from an idiot to be sure. Whoever advises the guy should have been given a slap.
I have been impressed by his advisors lately.
The dumb and dumber haircut is perfect.

So I guess the science that he keeps saying that he bases his policies on, says that the virus can differentiate between if the train that you are riding is a tourist train or not? I understand that science and policies are not black and white but if anyone questions his Covid policies, calling them a science denier tends to be a go to.

All politicians surround themselves with an echo chamber, whether by accident or design, so it's reinforced that every decision is pure genius. If they ever actually spoke to the voting pubic at large, they would know differently.

Went into the office for the first time in 2 years yesterday. Overall id say 70/30 ratio of mask wearing vs non-mask wearing

not what I said.….I said he’s an idiot. He should have been masked.

My wife was talking to a neighbour that just got back from New Brunswick. They drove rather than fly figuring their MB diesel was cheaper. It is about 16 hours each way but they arrived with their luggage.
A friend of theirs decided to fly and the second leg of the trip ended up cancelled. She was travelling with a toddler and an infant. They may have to install bouncy castles and petting zoos at airports to keep parents sane.

There are lots of sleeping pads all over Pearson. I'd suspect that there are many homeless staying there, but the prices are so expensive.

We drove to Florida in April and only spent $330US on gas (round trip) and about $300US for hotels along the way. The bonus was we had our car to get around while there, so no rental required. I've completely had it with security at airports, as well as flight delays, cancellations and lost/delayed luggage. Driving across the border didn't require testing, just the completed ArriveCan app. Breezed through with just a couple of questions, none of which pertained to Covid. I may never fly again.

Wife flew to Utah yesterday (early evening) out of Terminal 3. Breezed through security and flight was just slightly delayed taking off. She took only carry-on so no luggage issues.
