Thursday Aug 8 TMP?

Well, I finally looked at a bit of video last night.

I was running 1:30 through traffic a few laps earlier in the day, when I was trying to follow Corsara. I need to work on my passing, I don't commit and then I get stuck behind a couple people till I get to one of my comfortable corners.
Anywho...
Video is from the last session of the day. I was definitely tired by then, plus my visor kept fogging up(anyone else get that?) You'll see a bunch of missed Apexes but considering I had been sweating for 9 hours straight and my brain and body were fried, I did manage to do 1:28 -1:29 which is surprising since I felt absolutely wasted.
Kinda wish there hadn't been so much traffic the few sessions previous while I was still kinda fresh.

Gotta get on the power earlier for sure

Next time I'll try to show up rested and I might actually piece a whole lap together perfectly.

4th track-day, 2nd on the gixxer.
New brake pads and rotors(glazed stock set last track-day)
Different suspension set-up(better but still need front springs)
Stomp grip
16t front sprocket (way better)
Check out this video on YouTube:

I pass you at 4.40.

I'll let the more experienced comment, but IMHO of a novice, you lose tons of time in braking way too early, not giving it juice on exit, which is probably evident from the not so frequent gear changes too. On the positive side, your lines look (to me) very nice and good, and you seem smooth. I enjoyed the video, thanks for sharing!

I can't say that video really reflects the whole day but it was the only
Laps that I wasn't stuck behind 2-8 people throughout a lap.

Like I said I was dead tired by then. And as for the 3rd gear lap, dozzerDave mentioned to try it, and it was no slower.
Breaking... I tried just slowing down but carrying more speed through corners and it seemed to work in speed department.
Next time I'll add breaking and keep the speed and power out and I should get a 1:24-1:26. Hopefully:)

Corsara- I couldn't let you be the only person who posted a video ;)

Gsxr's with cat still in, need to be above 10000rpm to go. So I use second in turn 1. And don't brake for 3 or 4. It just upsets the chassis. Use turn 3 itself to shed any speed. I brake for 2 then not again till the left u-turn. And ya my weight advantage helps. I get to 4th down both straights. :)

I'm still having trouble wrapping my head around the RPMs. Monster696 to Streetfighter1098 and now the gixxer.
The Ducs were so torquey I never really had to think too much about it.

Thanks for the tips! It was great seeing the exact same bike run so much faster.
2nd gear into turn1!, I will try for sure on the 22nd.

And thanks for the tip on how easy it is to switch over to track fairings with this bike.
Every trackday Corsara(as he stares longingly at my bike ;) )reminds me how crazy I am to be running my bike in perfect street plastics. Lol

Winter projects list is getting longer and longer.

All it takes is a small puddle of water to prove my point ;)

Who is shifting in the infield? You don't really need to imho
I get to 5th on the first straight, down to 3rd for the 1st corner back to 4th and down to third for the 2nd corner and stay in that gear til the straight again.

What you riding?

Gears and shifting info is useless without knowing the bike and gearing setup. On my old sv I was shifting all the time in the infield with only -1 front gearing.

My point about the 3rd gear lap may have been misunderstood. I didn't mean to stay in 3rd through the infield, but just to not pin it down the straight so you can give yourself time to think going into turn 1. Consider that my old sv was only getting up to maybe 180 on the front straight. 1:23's all day. It's corner speed that counts most, not late braking.

Smooth is fast. I've been telling my straight line bandit buddy to use 3rd as well. Even tried to get him to run in B power mode on his 2011 750. Sfer's corner speed is not bad. Just needs clean laps for a day to tie it all together.

The reason I stay in third the entire infield is that by the time I need to shift I'm already on the brakes. It just wastes time. I also need to work on my corner speeds.

That's cool. Limit the things you need to think about, focus on what you wish to improve. Come to Grand Bend on Thursday. Ride a different track to feel what it's like to go different speeds and you'll immediately improve when you go back to TMP.

Going on the Friday.

Having a hell of a time finding the Screaming Alien track layout online.

Anyone have a pic? I need to study.

This is what GB website has

No "Screaming Alien" ...

Thank you. Where'd ya find it?

Apparently the right side of my tires just can't catch a break. Lol

Don't know, but had it saved in my notes from long time ago for the day I finally get to visit Grand Bend.
