This guy needs to be fired, pronto!

China is the world's biggest car market, their middle class is bigger than the entire population of North America now.

It's scary, not funny.

I've heard they are the largest importer of GM automobiles

Its rediculously well equipped and in its market not really a stretch. The jeep badge on that truck is really a marketing tool, I don't think you'll see many offroading unless the parking lot at a ski hill is offroading.

Last time I check it had the engine of a Benz in the diesel option

The mini van has kept Windsor Ontario alive and kicking for the last 20 years.

Love 'em or hate 'em, they are an important part of the Ontario manufacturing economy. They are keeping hundreds if not thousands of people in Ontario employed.

exactly, build em cheap and cheerful and sell a pile, make em ugly and expensive...................

True. It worked for Hyundai in the 80's. Their cars where cheap (and some say terrible) back then but look where they are today. I've read several consumer reports that state their build quality and technology has come farther in the last 10 years than Honda has in the last 20.

That being said, Hyundai still doesn't build anything I want to drive.

Back on topic, the styling maybe odd but it has got people talking about it and Jeep in general lately all over the internet. From a marketing perspective it's working.

In 08 only.

Edit: Apparently diesel is back, but its not an MB diesel this time around due to the ownership change obviously.

I believe they are using a FIAT engine, since FIAT now owns a large portion of chrsyler.

Yep, just read that myself when I was checking if they brought back a diesel option.
Seems to have close to the same specs are the MB CRD in the 08's. Hopefully the tranny is better in this version. My 08 had to rev way too high on the highway.

70 grand? For a Chrysler?

:laughing3:

I checked one out thoroughly at the auto show. Its still a piece of crap. I could post a list as long as my left arm as to why this thing isn't competitive. Esp at that price.

Its a Fiat now...**** Fiat. Even if it did have a Benz engine, I'd spend that money on a Benz...

Mexican construction for American taste, the jetta is officially ruined. Beam axle in the back and drum brakes now, no 5 setting heated seats, half the sound dampening removed and interior plastics look like fisher-price is molding for them. Sad sad car right now.
My '06 was such a better drive, **** electrics but better drive.

no I'm not super sensitive...in fact, after re-reading your statement, I actually felt apologetic that perhaps I misunderstood your statement.

but judging from your latest response, I'm now fairly certain of what you were implying.

You sure sound confused.

nice try troll, your higher than thou response^ and attitude is pathetic.

go ahead, respond with another wise-*** remark....you know you need to...trolllolololololol.

Troll?
A simple apology would have sufficed, go ahead and keeping making negative inferences coupled with your name calling. I guess that approach works well for you in life.

So as others have mentioned, $70k does seem very high for that vehicle and brand.
This reminds me of the canned responses such e.g. Why is that Jeep $70k? Well because it's a Jeep.
I think someone needs to remind Fiat/Chrysler that Jeep is was never a luxury nameplate.
They would have been better served creating a new badge much like Toyota and Lexus.

No doubt the Elantra is a fine automobile, especially at its price point.

I have personally never driven a Volkswagen myself but I am interested in their diesel options.
