Ha, gay would not be allowed at all... Pretty sure she wouldn't ever look at me again.

I couldn't even compute the thought of moving to another country and making it change for me. People need to understand that while it's all well and good that they want to come here because it's a better way of life, it's our way of life and it shouldn't be changed because we offend a group. If someone is offended by things like saying merry christmas then they should get the ****** out.
What if you bring a coloured friend home... is that even allowed? Man you guys live in a bigger family-social box than most asian cultures.
interesting, I agree with the thought, that if I went to another country, I wouldn't expect them to change for me.
but ponder this...
so we shouldn't have to change "our way of life" for a group that may be offended.
but what if those new immigrants have children born here?....should these 100% true Canadians (who might have the same notions like their parents)
be allowed to change "our way of life"?...what if they're offended also, shouldn't we change for them then?
what if, some time in the future... more than 50% of Canadian Citizens (whether new immigrants, or kids of immigrants who were born here) think different than "our way of life"
should we change then?....majority rules no?
yeah, I know there's difference between Canadian Citizenship and Canadian Culture, but isn't a culture determined by it's people?.....just something to think about...peace.
Canada as a whole has become too much of a bleeding heart, pro-political correctness arena. As others have stated, and I agree, you would not expect to move to a foreign country and have that country change their culture, ways and beliefs for you, but that is what's happening in Canada.
When it's taboo to say Merry Christmas, for example, is pointing at what's going wrong, and it's only getting worse. I've see places like Pearson airport this year (for the first year) with no Xmas decorations at all, anywhere. Only airport in Canada with nothing. Why? When questioned, the powers that be mumbled something about not wanting to offend anyone. EXCUSE ME??? We are in Canada, not _______ (insert foreign country)
That being said, I love boobies![]()
You do raise some good points. However I'll stick to my we shouldn't change the basis of our culture for anyone. If someone from somewhere else moves here and is offended they can always go back where they came from.
Isn't that what drones are for?And talking about Christmas, how about shoving Christianity down brown peoples' throat?

Yep, coloured friends are ok.

all this talk about "our culture"
can someone describe what exactly Canadian culture is? beer, hockey, kraft?

RESPECTING other people. Enjoying a slower, simpler pace.
Hockey, Beer, a fishing pole and a lake in the summer, enjoying the snow in the winter instead of just bitching about it.
Seeing what has been "custom" in this country start to change because of the new arrivals in the last 20 years so that we can bend to the wishes of these guests... How about the true Canadians that recognize the maple leaf as the symbol of their true home? Nobody in the government seems to give a damn about how they feel.
It blows seeing this country head the way it's heading... I guess Britain isn't a good enough example.
The immigrants coming are destroying your culture what ever that is just like the natives' culture was destroyed by the anglo immigrants. It's the circle of life deal with it and just be glad you aren't being put in trains and shipped off to reservations as well
