I only know I don't like this fake tolerance that's going on here within GTA.
Sometimes I think this multiculturalism here is a type of modern racism.

Did not say victims of racism are just exaggerating but sometimes misinterpreting someones intent and motivations. That is possible?

And just how do you talk to these people whose land was stolen and children killed via small pox blankets with the remaining herded into a land pen and cut off in a systematic way?

But hey, I just roll in my Bentley too wondering what all the fuss is about.

Are you really taking this thread in this direction? You think they were a bunch of peace loving, tree hugging hippies??? They are able to have a life that their ancestors couldn't even dream of. They are not the first, nor the last people to be conquered by a vastly superior army. Keep bitching in your shack, or work hard to get a house with your free education and tax free living.


To the topic. I grew up in all white small towns and I would say my family is racist. Not in the hate kind of way, but prefer to keep to our own people. No one would get disowned for being with people of other races. Personally I'm not a fan of mixed couples, but if my daughter or son decided to be with another race, I will still love them the same.

Racisim comes from ignorance and lack of education in my experience. I found it easy to be a neo-nazi in small white towns. But as I moved away and met people if different cultures I realized just how stupid racism is.
 
And then I Lol about what Chinese (Cantonese - not sure about mandarin) call white and black people in direct translation.

It was really weird, having a farm, and in the summer having 20 migrant workers from Jamaica show up and live in the shack out back that would work like dogs right through to harvest.

i also grew up working alongside off-shore workers.

aside from a few bad apples, the jamaicans, and other caribbean workers were great. polite, well mannered, and respectful towards women.

now the mexican (mainly ones from northern mexico, the southerns are fine) workers were another story. there were some good ones, but to a large part they were thieves drunkards, cat-callers and more. they disappeared once arriving, claim religious dates (paid holidays), faked work related injuries. the housing that was provided was destroyed by the end of the year.
the town has attempted to not be partnered with north mexican towns

We never had an issue with our workers. When I was a kid I would go back to the bunkhouse to hang out.

But you take a small town that is 99% white for most of the year, and then suddenly on certain nights of the week the normally quiet down town is flooded with people that look and act different. Hard to adjust to the feeling of them "taking over" what is "your" town.

I know where he's coming from.
When you grow up living in some of these small, all white farm communities, most of what you hear about other races is negative, due to stereotypes shown on TV and the way that people from other generations talk about them. So it's pretty easy to be a sheeple and think the same way.

My family is likely racist in the same way his is. There isn't any "hate", nobody wants to go form a lynch mob. But, they probably have ideas about stereotypes and thats what they run with, is the stereotype. And sure, it is narrow minded.
If you notice, he mentions about moving away and then learning about other cultures... It's because he didn't know different and he can't be blamed for that.
So what, he isn't a fan of mix raced couples... When I see a mixed race couple I just go "Meh". Not my bag of tea, because I'm simply just not attracted to certain features. But everyone has their taste.

Markham used to be full of white people. Mostly well mannered. Also lots of big fluffy doggies!

The area I'm in is more multicultured now. However, literally, on the other side of 9th line it is full of Middle Easterns/Indians. My gripe with this is that some of them are extremely unfriendly and suck at driving.

I'm cool with everyone as long as they learn to respect Canadian culture but I feel that a large majority of Asians, Indians and Middle Easterns want to shove their culture down our throat. That, I have a huge problem with.

For the record, I'm Taiwanese and my parents were racist. My brother and I fixed that by yelling at them every time a racist remark came out -_-

I once dated a mixed girl, I can tell you from first hand she was hmm-hmm-hmm yummy. Very smart too, much smarter than my dumb arse. Smart & good looking
