Marked as pending, so probably too late, but $4k for what appears to be an immaculately kept ST1300 with almost an ideal amount of miles for the age seems very reasonably priced to me...
Was reading an article about BMW airheads (thinking of buying one). The author said beware of low mileage examples, not so much about turned-back odometers but about bikes that have sat too much allowing seals, hoses etc. to dry out. Perhaps his concerns were more centred around carbs and related though.

That is a GREAT buy. There's a fair number of ST1300's and FJR's in the $5K range. Very tempting.

At this point, almost every airhead will have had a point in its life where it was basically parked for a decade or more. The newest one is almost 30 years old. If it was ridden consistently, it would have over 200k km on it. I would barely consider mileage in my evaluation of condition. If it sat for a long time but the current owner has piled on miles, I prefer that over mileage long long ago and me buying it out of its slumber.

2003 ST1300 only 2k riding a year...hopefully the next owner makes better use of that sweet ride.
I had a 2007 ST1300 that I never really fell in love with.Don’t get me wrong, it was ultra reliable but I always felt like I was a kid driving my dad’s Buick when I rode it. The 2001 VFR 800 I had before that was an absolutely superb motorcycle, I thought that the ST1300 would be more of the same, unfortunately I was wrong. I actually gave the ST1300 away to a friend of my stepdaughter’s just so that somebody would enjoy and appreciate it more than I did.

ST's still have some common problems. The linked brakes are a bit of a pain with everything interconnected. One my friend's rear wheel was completely locked up and we had to drag it out of his shed and rebuild the Secondary Master Cylinder. Even before that, he always complained that the bike was so heavy to move around, but once we fixed it he was amazed at how much lighter it felt without the rear brake dragging.

He's also chasing a coolant leak and every time he thinks he's got it sealed, it leaks again. The biggest pain is removing the fairing each time, but I think that's par for course on a Honda where they like to encapsulate everything. They do give you some small panels to pop off to access the heads, but I think that only lets you check the plugs, not actually do valves.

What's bad about them?
A poor Japanese copy of a British motorcycle that wasn't all that to begin with.
Unpleasant amount of engine vibration, lack of power output, uninspiring handling and braking and just crude overall.
The only bright spot that i can think of was some exploits that Kenny Roberts managed in dirt flat track with a factory Yamaha built one.

This might be worth more than $300 to someone.
Great deal if you are planning on shipping a bike in the future.

Can also be made into a motorcycle lift table with some ingenuity .

$7k for a 2014 R nineT with 40,000 kms is not necessarily a great deal, but considering this is the cheapest one of these I've seen by about $2.5k, it seems reasonably priced. Shame about the stupid exhaust that's likely deafening...
