The Reasonably Priced Used Motorcycles for Sale Thread

@Priller aren't you building up an rc51? Rain bike?
Yup. Would have snatched this up in a heartbeat had it been available last fall. Would've saved myself a bundle, too. It's never, ever cheaper to convert a street bike to a track bike than it is to buy one ready to go. I paid less than half that for a runner, but add suspension, race fairings, track rubber, rearsets, crash protectors, clip-ons, 520 chain and sprockets, rain wheels and discs, braided lines, etc., and that gap is gone in a heartbeat and then some...

I already have rain wheels, but a rain bike is a stretch for what was supposed to be a trackday hack...

Only 5 kms:
Even still has that 'new tire' colour band around the treads.

I always wonder about bikes like this. What's the story behind someone putting down good money on a brand new motorcycle, and then literally never riding it? And then waiting 3-4 years to sell it, too...

Mom & Dad put the hammer down?
Maybe **** their pants somewhere between kilometer 1 and 5?
Maybe health?

All eminently possible, among a multitude of possibilities. I suspect the most common is buying the bike before getting licensed, then either deciding during the licensing process that motorcycles aren't for you, or simply never getting around to it.

Still, I am always curious what the stories behind used bikes are, and zero mileage minters are among the oddest...

Hey, i resemble that remark.

Everything? He has a garage full of pretty bikes but life gets in the way of adventure. :(

For the parked 500, I'll add insurance cost. Buy the bike without realizing the additional cashflow required. Not willing to take a loss on the never ridden bike and either hope insurance drops with years licensed (basically no) or finally acknowledge that it isnt happening and needs to go. Also could be a fun shared hobby for a boyfriend/girlfriend who disappeared shortly after purchase.

When I was 18 I used to drive by this house every day on my way to work. Half the time the garage door was open and I could just see a zx7r in there, never seemed to move.
Finally stopped in one day to see if they would sell it. Older lady explains that it was her son's bike, and that he had bought it new as his dream bike. He was killed commuting on his "old" bike as he wouldn't leave the zx7r parked at work.
I bought it with less than 1200km on it.

When I moved into my current house in 2004 the neighbour had a 1993 GS500 with 600 km on it. No garage and left in the bushes to rot. Twin girls and no time. Gave him scrape value for it.

Bought a Ducati 1100s mts 2 years ago. Put about 1200km on it.
Bought a Beta Evo200 last March. Still brand new.
Waiting to find the care for my wife after her brain injury. I'm a 24/7 psw.
Gotta hang in and hope. I was actually thinking of trading the 1100 in on a 2021 v4 mts. But that would be kind of silly.

From Durham College : 60% of the people that pay $500+ and buy gear, take the motorcycle course - never get their full M.
Some find it's not for them, some check the price of insurance, some - boyfriend/girlfriend ride, but they break up, plus all kinds of reasons, time, financial change....

I knew your story to a degree from other posts, didn't realise it was that limiting on time. Full credit to you for doing what needs done, but I can't imagine how hard it is.

When you do get back out there, you'll make up for lost time, I'm sure. That MTS is about as good a way as any to do that!

Just for irritations' sake (and to maintain the derail), the latest America's Cup boats are pretty boring:
