I stand corrected. I assumed it was playing the tune on standard chime rods but it is a music box. I have seen a few Junghans carriage/mantel clocks with the music box but not a wall clock. Very unique! It is circa 1900.Thanks for the link. I was told grandad won it in a footrace. My daughter will inherit it when i take the big dirtnap.
I did find a couple references to similar clocks.
German 'Musical' Wall Clock
A delightful German Vienna style wall clock. This is an early piece from the Junghans factory circa 1900's and is fitted with a fully working musical chime. The case is predominantly oak with some ebonised detailing to the columns on the front of the clock. The dial is the original paper face with

Junghans musical wall clock
I have this Junghans musical wall clock but no information on it. I would like to know the age and value. Is it possible to find out what the musical chime is. Any info would be appreciated.

If you want to find out more about yours, post it up on the second link (NAWCC). You will need to have pics of the movement though. It is very difficult to ascertain anything without those. Those guys will be able to tell you everything about it as they have either seen/worked on/owned one.
Do your daughter a favour and dont run it anymore and have it serviced before you hit the dirt. It sounds like it runs perfectly but after that long it will need at least cleaned and oiled again. That can run you anywhere from $200 to $800 depending on what they say it needs. Again, the guys at NAWCC can point you to a reputable clock person in your area.
EDIT: Some of you watch guys may find that site useful as well.
