The "Official" Watch Thread and all Things Horological

Had a meeting today so I grabbed an orient.

Love love love my Bambino I have same model with ivory dial.

The blue second hand is a nice touch.

Tremendous bang for the buck and underated japanese brand imho. Far nicer than the timex and lower end Casio dial watches.

EDIT: crap, now you got me jonesing for a black dial version.....

Yea, I almost spit out the coffee when I saw the price at $450K USD. Maybe, they already have the buyers in mind as these one of pieces are "mass market bespoke" anyways. I'm sure they'll be at some auction in 10 years for 100K, I'll keep my eye out for it then :{.

Looks like I'm getting a new job...maybe I should look into a new watch to celebrate...

Since you have condemned yourself to a life underground, a well-lumed diver or tool watch seems like a great fit.

Edit:
When a friend got married, his in-laws gave him a milgauss. Pretty cool and not something you see every day. Probably more than you want to spend right now though.

And done. Haha.

Thanks Amazon!

Interesting. My search of Amazon (.ca) for that watch shows $531 from one seller. Sunny's link shows $174 (not a seller on Amazon)

????

You can pickup the blue one for $194. Let me know if you're not going to, I just might. Always kinda wanted an Orient, might as well.

Could never accept that Lightning bolt second hand...

Cough. Chimes normally put you into seven digits. It is an omega though, that's a lot for an omega that doesnt have a storied provenance (like being worn on the moon).
And according to your standard, to which I whole heartedly agree, in this pic at least, at first glance, the time is far from clear.

Now its 213.....I will keep clicking and see how low I can get it to go.

All of us clicking has probably pushed the price up. Come back in a few days if you want to buy.

On another note. I don't think that picture is a V4. V4 should have a red tip on the second hand.

Here is the three month price history.

And history today:

Chronographs almost always affect legibility. Here are a couple. One was a well intentioned gift but a pinnacle of wrong (and it weighs well over half a pound). The other is far cooler (quartz with sweep seconds) but still suffers in the legibility department.

EDIT:
Now, if I really wanted to take a watch really deep, the Invicta has a solid chance. It has screw down crown, pushers and back. Theoretical rating of 500m. I haven't taken it apart to see how crystal is dealt with. That is probably the weak link. I suspect the pushers on the Bulova would have trouble at its 300m rating (and if you touched one, it would be all over).
