Re: The Official 2011 Kitchener-Waterloo and surrounding areas thread.

LOL... I hear ya. I kind of felt guilty buying some spark plugs on the weekend because of all the other crap I have to pay for (all non-bike stuff!), but I have to at least buy a few things from my bike shopping list. Only 4 months until the first track day and less time than that for street riding!

Re: The Official 2011 Kitchener-Waterloo and surrounding areas thread.

I had a good time at the show. I went on Saturday morning and bought myself some Alpinestars 1-piece leather with matching boots. Now I just have to book my racer5 intro course.

Dave ........ let me know when you're going? I might try and book the same weekend as you. You doing day 1 and 2 for the license?

Re: The Official 2011 Kitchener-Waterloo and surrounding areas thread.

I'll let you know once I know what weekend for sure. I'd like to do both, but I'll have to see.

Re: The Official 2011 Kitchener-Waterloo and surrounding areas thread.

Hey guys (Dave, Tim, Dean, Jeff Jones, etc..) My HID came in and I was wondering if one of you guys could help me instal it? I could muscle through but if you guys have experience with this kit or electrical be appreciated. Name your price for helping.

My gol is to get it tucked away nice and a clean job the first time. I could muscle through but the experience would be nice help.

Side note: bikes in a heated shop (father's auto collision shop) so lots of room, tools etc.....

Let me know

Thanks a bunch

Jer

Where is the bike located?
Advice before hand is to get some double sided foam squares or Velcro patches as it makes installing the ballasts easy if yours didn't come with any.
I usually busy as the wife and I work opposite shifts to save on babysitters.

Tomorrow morning till noon and Thursday after work I'm free and Sunday after suppertime if any of those work for you?

Re: The Official 2011 Kitchener-Waterloo and surrounding areas thread.

Hey guys (Dave, Tim, Dean, Jeff Jones, etc..) My HID came in...

Got the itch and couldn't wait for a group buy? haha... ;) I'm struggling to prioritize my bike mod purchases and I think for me HID's are slipping down the list... I have a few things (like a shift star kit) that are pretty much required that need to come first.

Saturday morning/afternoon works for me. Price? All the beer I can drink during install. Note - install will take approximately 36 hours. ;)

Seriously though, having a beer handy is good enough. Just have the fairing screws all removed. I'd suggest leaving the fairings on so it's easy to see how it all removes and where the best place to put the ballasts would be etc.

Send me a PM if this time works for you. Could be free on Sunday, but not certain yet.

Re: The Official 2011 Kitchener-Waterloo and surrounding areas thread.

hahah Dave......it was Christmas and I needed to buy something for myself :) plus Jan-Mar are heavy travel months for me at work so I needed the kit in so I had time to get it installed. Before we know it we'll be riding again!

Jeff - really appreciate you offering up your time but you sound like you're swamped. Tim is available on Saturday and the shop usually has more room on Saturdays as customers pick up their cars from dad's shop on Fridays if they are done. That should hopefully leave us a bay or two open to have more room to get it done and I can finish it up sunday if we don't get it done on saturday by chance.
Another question though. you mentioned the foam or the velcro? I know you have a lot of pics of the work you've done to yours....do you have a pic of how you used that for the ballast? Any other misc things needed that I can pick up before Saturday?? like connectors etc?

Tim....I'll PM you

Thanks again guys for all the help! I'm itching to ride!

No worries Jer, I totally understand. This is your first winter with a bike. It only gets worse! hahaha :)

Danny, I think I'll just get a single 35W for my low beam and leave the high beams for now. So we can probably order a single 35W/55W kit I guess.

Your high beam will be useless if you switch the low to HID... just so ya know...

Ya it gets kind of busy working off-shifts witht he wifey but it saves us daycare money.

I don't have any specific pics of my install on this computer but if you put the foam or velcro on the backside of the ballasts (And relay if you have H4's) it makes it easier to mount as you can jut stick it on wherever it fits (ie; Frame, Fairing, backside of headlight...). I prefer the velcro so if you dont get it perfect the first time you can readjust it.
Also make sure you have some small zipties so you can hold the wiring where you want.

Here is a H4 install from ddm (for a car) but same principal: https://www.ddmtuning.com/support/index.php?_m=downloads&_a=viewdownload&downloaditemid=11&nav=0,1

How do you figure? On the 929 low beam is centre, high beam is all 3. Right now that's 3 55W's.

I was going to ask the same thing yesterday. Actually I was going to just say; How about next Thursday (19th) at Casey's in the Sunrise Centre (Ottawa and Fischer Hallman)?

I apologize if it has already been said elsewhere in this thread, but when/how is the HID group buy going down? I want to get some for my 06 R6 but I don't even know what kit I need yet lol :S

Not sure when. I think it's down to just Danny and I sharing an order, so whenever we hear from him we could probably move forward with an order. We're looking at these from DDT Tuning.
