The Official Ongoing Kitchener-Waterloo and surrounding areas thread

Re: The Official 2011 Kitchener-Waterloo and surrounding areas thread.

6pm works for me too... have a late hockey game.. .wouldn't mind having a snooze between the ride and the game.
So, who's being voluntold to lead? Maybe somebody new? Seems like it's usually the same guys leading... let's see where else we may end up!

Re: The Official 2011 Kitchener-Waterloo and surrounding areas thread.

I should also be good to go for Thursday. I can come to work a bit later and just leave from here to the meet. I also wouldn't mind following for a change.

Re: The Official 2011 Kitchener-Waterloo and surrounding areas thread.

I would attempt the lead but I don't know any good roads and don't want everyone watching if I have to bump start my bike mid ride :confused1:.
I never get to get out to just ride and find new roads, I just get to commute.

Re: The Official 2011 Kitchener-Waterloo and surrounding areas thread.

If someone can lead to grand driver brewing company. I would not mind leading down my route. Just might need some tips on how to lead!

You want to head into downtown Cambridge? Where is your route, Spragues, Glen Morris, West River?

Re: The Official 2011 Kitchener-Waterloo and surrounding areas thread.

You know i honestly can say what the roads are called i just drive it all teh time never paid attention. Was thinking through GM into paris then upto greenfeild to ayr then out to Fischer

Re: The Official 2011 Kitchener-Waterloo and surrounding areas thread.

Sure. Then maybe we should meet somewhere else, like Ottawa/Fischer-Hallman Tim Horton's

Re: The Official 2011 Kitchener-Waterloo and surrounding areas thread.

I'm fine with whatever is easiest to meet.

Re: The Official 2011 Kitchener-Waterloo and surrounding areas thread.

As far as I know I am in. The new meeting place works for me too.

Nothing to leading. You set the pace. Use signals a wee bit early to ensure the people following see them. If you see something on the road (i.e. cow pattie, debris etc) point to it with your leg on that side. Lets followers know there is something on the road and will give them ample opportunity to avoid...

Oh, and try to avoid roads that will or may be clogged with 6pm traffic (since that's the time we're heading out).

Re: The Official 2011 Kitchener-Waterloo and surrounding areas thread.

Some might say that it's the leaders responsibility to keep track of all riders behind, but that gets hard to manage. I prefer to say each rider is responsible for the rider behind. If somebody disappears, it shouldn't take long before there is nobody left and the leader will figure out that something happened. It's nice to be able to have an experienced leader and an experienced sweeper, but it usually ends up that a new rider wants to sweep, which kinda doesn't make sense in terms of keeping the group safe. Ideally sweeper would also know the ride route and be able to lead a fragmented group back to the front group, that should have realised they lost some riders and be waiting or sending a rider to double back.

Re: The Official 2011 Kitchener-Waterloo and surrounding areas thread.

Won't be there tomorrow night, but I am up for a good weekend ride.

Re: The Official 2011 Kitchener-Waterloo and surrounding areas thread.

I'm leaving my Monday open for chill out day since my weekend would otherwise be packed. Also I think my Erion system (for the 929) is at the post office today so Monday may be installation day ;)
Nice!

Stole this from the trackday thread since it's about my street bike. I just opened the box! Woo! The exhaust system needs some cleaning but it looks pretty good. Not sure if I'll have time to install it on Monday and get out for a ride but we'll see.

Re: The Official 2011 Kitchener-Waterloo and surrounding areas thread.

Re: The Official 2011 Kitchener-Waterloo and surrounding areas thread.

Looks like I'll be working some O/T tonight... can't make it... oh well...

Re: The Official 2011 Kitchener-Waterloo and surrounding areas thread.

DIBS, tonight I'm sweeping, and I'm not letting anybody else say they want to be at the back because they're slow or they don't have group riding experience. ;) My reason is that my bike isn't running right yet and the off idle throttle control is a bit sketchy. I don't want anybody running into me because they think I'm going and then suddenly my bike starts to hesitate.
