The Official Ongoing Kitchener-Waterloo and surrounding areas thread

Re: The Official 2011 Kitchener-Waterloo and surrounding areas thread.

Hopefully they have it ready for you tomorrow. What HD dealer did you bring it too?

Anyone else put off by this heat? Tomorrow is suppose to be even worse. Good thing our work trucks have AC or else I would be nothing but a puddle.

Re: The Official 2011 Kitchener-Waterloo and surrounding areas thread.

How much for the ZX9? Great bike I should have kept mine.

It's that godawful ugly green, that's really making me hesitate. Cost is $4500, so it's not bad that way. Would need a new fairing set or paint job though.

What's the brand of the exhaust on your Ducati Steve? Looking at a 1098 on Kijiji right now... just fired him an email about service records actually...

It's at Jacox in Mississauga. I wouldn't mind going to Rocky's in London,. but they've messed me around in the past.... so I'd rather not go there again. Next closest Buell dealer is in Barrie... *sigh*

Sorry Babs (my bike), but you're headed for Kijiji....

Re: The Official 2011 Kitchener-Waterloo and surrounding areas thread.

Hey Tim, if you go for the RSVR I know all that you need to know to install a better regulator and hopefully avoid a cooked stator. ;) I've been doing some research myself and I've pretty much settled on getting a CBR929RR and turning it into a CBR929ST.

Danny, the heat? Yeah, I hate riding in heat like this. Especially if it's only to commute to work, ie, riding for the sake of getting on the bike? No thanks. haha... I'm not that hardcore I guess.

Tomorrow night I'll be helping Dean with his track bike, so even if it wasn't super super hot out I'd be busy.

The Harley dealer on Kingsway in Kitchener, are they no good (I have no idea...)?

If you do go with an Aprilia, Two Wheel Motorsports is now an Ape dealer so there is still one near by.

Hopefully this heat isn't so bad tomorrow. Doing a 200km trip in the afternoon.. but at 90-100kph I think I'll be ok.

Re: The Official 2011 Kitchener-Waterloo and surrounding areas thread.

Tomorrow doesn't look too bad, only 32° high. Where are you headed?

HD dealer in KW isn't Buell authorized (even though 2 of their techs and a sales guy ride the 1125 platform, and one of the partners in KW Harley owns Rocky's in London (which is a Buell dealer)), so they can't do the service.

Looking into the Aprilia a little closer - stopped in today to see if the stator had ever been replaced - they're going to get in touch with the previous owner to see if he has any records.

They also have a 2010 GSX-R750 in stock now - just came in last night on a trade for an 1198. GSXR has 800km on it (guy bought an SV650, rode it for 5 min and took it back to the dealer 'cause he knew it wasn't what he wanted after all, and got the GSXR instead). At the moment, it might be the front runner for me. Really depends on when I can sell my Buell.

As far as that story goes --- I drove down today to vent a little (but politely). Head service advisor feels bad, but not a whole lot she can do. Bike was on a lift, swing arm off, techie reading through the manual. I reacted poorly to that (no, not yelling or throwing a tantrum). Asked to talk to the owner. Apparently he was on a conference call and could not be disturbed - got his card and email address.

Was walking out to my truck when a tech got ahold of me. Said he saw I was upset, and wanted to know what the problem was. He apparently is the lead tech of the shop. I explained, he understood. Wasn't aware of all the date promises that were being broken etc. Gave me his name, and said I should talk directly to him in the future - good guy - went a long way in smoothing my ruffled feathers.

And the saga continues.....

Re: The Official 2011 Kitchener-Waterloo and surrounding areas thread.

$4500 is high for the ZX9 but the green is the only colour I would want on a Kawi. I am thinking of selling my 1198 if you are interested.
Edit: Green rims look like hell as do the aftermarket stickers I had them swapped for black rims off a black bike when I bought mine.

That's good to hear that you finally talked to somebody that didn't manage to upset you. Why was the swing arm off to fix the clutch hydraulics?

So hang on here, GSX-R750 to succeed Babs, and then.... Diavel? ...and gixxer becomes the track bike? ;)

Swing arm was off to replace the fuel pump/sending unit. The low fuel light a f-trip counter refused to go off and was giving a low fuel system error and the occasional low fuel pressure error.

Your steps of succession sound pretty good there Dave... haven't made up my mind exactly which direction I want to go in, except that I want to sell Babs. When she runs, she's absolutely awesome and I love her dearly, but parts wait times are a real drag.

Re: The Official 2011 Kitchener-Waterloo and surrounding areas thread.

i'm new to the area (cambridge), anywhere good to go that's relatively close by?

Interested to hear how the Bab's Saga will end.

Also, I need some new gloves so if anybody spots a deal out there let me know please.

Highway 24, Cambridge to Paris is fun.
Scenic Drive in Paris is fantastic - best road I have been on but apparently have a heavy po-po presence.
Back roads around Maryhill are good.

Re: The Official 2011 Kitchener-Waterloo and surrounding areas thread.

Babs is back in my driveway.
Just got done unloading her, re-installing the EBR ECM, double checked all other fittings...
Bill would have been $1835 all said and done. Thank god it was under warranty.
Time to go for a rip... like all afternoon long...

Re: The Official 2011 Kitchener-Waterloo and surrounding areas thread.

Good to hear, Tim! Have you decided what you want to do with her? Uhm... yeah. LOL

I enjoy hwy 54 south of Brantford then turns into hwy 17. East river rd (hwy 14 to Paris) is great.
For the most part I play on the Escarpment in Hamilton.
