The edge

Blundell show was a hit or miss most mornings for me. One day hilarious, next day spartan, I do agree the show went downhill after Jason left, and will probably go further with Todd gone.

As for Q, best station to listen to at work, plenty of Floyd and Zep, and a good mixture of 70's tunes which i seem to enjoy more as the older i get.

Anyone remember when 102 used to only play a song once per 24 hours?

The Spirit of Radio site used to stream old blocks of shows from Dave Marsden, Ted Woloshyn, Liz Janik, Nick Charles, Earl & Beverly, Howard & Fred. Chorus, in their infinite wisdom, sued them and they had to stop. Buncha shidiots.

Any fans of the old 102 format and hosts, keep an ear on Indie88 (88.1) launching on July 31st!

Alan Cross and Raina Douris will be hosting... and they're NOT owned by Corus.

Da fuq? So that's what this station is about. Its new and they keep playing this "rick rolled" song. Over & over, I thought it was a joke

Haha, nope, not a joke. They had a really good "sample" stream on their site until today, now they've replaced it with 24/7 Never Gonna Give You Up until they launch lol

Amazing how many of you claim to hate the show, yet you listened in enough to know that Todd wasn't there anymore.

LOL. :lmao:

Show's hit or miss... It's pointless banter. That's the whole point.

+1

Especially when you're not face to face with the person you're insulting.
This.

I just listen to my iPod now when I am in the truck. We listen to 99.1 at work sometimes, mostly for The Debaters(which is awesome), Stewart Mclean, and Wire Tap.

Anybody who is using internet based radio stations check out Radio Paradise. Commercial free, donation supported, not for profit radio. High Quality streams(192k). Programmed by a DJ, not a computer. Ridiculously good mix of music. All genre's covered.

It's on TuneIn and most other internet radio services. Or you can play it direct through their website.

I've found some good streaming channels via TuneIN. Great app. I bluetooth it to my car and stream it that way.

So all you complainers. What other local funny radio stations/programs do you know or listen to?

Funny morning shows all try to outdo each other, with the result that they are all on the wrong side of the critical stupidity level that I will tolerate.

I used to be a 102.1 listener back when they were CFNY, the Spirit of Radio. I've been back a couple of times when there weren't any better options, and there were a couple of years where I had Sirius because there were no Toronto stations that I liked. The short-lived 92.5 Jack FM allowed me to cancel Sirius, but then they changed format to something I can't stand. Now, I normally either listen to Boom 97.3, or 680 News.

The upcoming 88.1 indie station could be interesting. I didn't know about that.

I listen to 102.1 in the morning and often dial away at some point, Allan Cross former station program manager is a smart guy he took 102 from a basement to a major league station then lost control and it went "alt top 20", his streaming of old spirit of radio had a great following and his new idea 88.1 alternative will have an audience.
I listen to sattelite to hear new to me music, interviews with up and coming bands and have 10-12 channels in a style i prefer and i can listen for thousands of kilometers.

Fred in the afternoon on 102.1 is actually pretty cool and entertaining.
Joise Dye is the most horrendous personality on radio in North America and if you want endless banter about mindless drinking stories and failed hookups shes your girl.

I'm dating myself but I would have to say that 102.1 went downhill the morning after Humble and Fred left!!! Before I started listening to them I had never woken up laughing my *** off so often. I don't understand the fascination with a miserable little man with a poor sense of ha ha.

I would have to say it started going downhill when they got rid of Pete ant Geets and brought in Steve Anthony from Much Music. I'm really dating myself.

Don't kid yourself. Marsden was the one holding all the strings at CFNY.

?

He was kinda funny, in a stupid way, on Disaster Decks.

Now that we can agree on. That chic is spun.

Marsden was still on air doing a weekend show out in Oshawa a year ago, I cant pick it up this far west so i dont know if he's still doing it.
He had a personal blues collection that he would dig into when CFNY was in brampton, before they hand cuffed him.

My friend Larry is now the Friday am guy and Tuesday night guest host on 92.1 Radio Amherst Island, want some 60's and 70's rock that never should have been on radio to start with? Dial in 92.1, mostly volunteer dj's , must love cows and cooking and weather reports, and the knowledge that up to 45 people may be listening at the same time.......

Well there goes my Ipod's FM transmitters station

Don't you fret. 88.1's signal range is low, you'll be fine in Cambridge. Besides it was used for years as CKLN/Ryerson radio station until they lost their licence.
