The Car Thread

Nope. Pounds. One of the most frightening cars you'll ever go for a ride in when the throttle gets mashed.

Those used to be road raced with just a simple roll bar and open face helmet/googles for protection. Oh ya, and driving gloves. Google Dave MacDonald Shelby Cobra.

Not to mention real ones cost a tad more than a replica. I'd rather a replica for the driving anyways. Modern amenities with the classic looks. That said if money meant nothing there'd be a real one in my garage.

Love Cobras, I'd drive a replica in a heartbeat... there are some really nice ones around the $40-50k range. Well built cars.

And on that topic, if money was free-flowing and I had the time, I'd build a replica Daytona Coupe in an instant. God damn, most beautiful cars ever built...

Yes it's a replica.

Guy had one at the Orangeville car show painted flat black rubbed down with WD40 looked mean as heck. Didn't look overly safe either.

You can get a kit for your Datsun.

Those kinds of kits are typically a joke. The purpose-built kits are more like the real thing, from a geometry perspective.

Nobody will notice.

My first car was a hand-me-down 1978 Civic with the "big" 1500 engine, 5-speed manual, hatchback, which my dad had bought new (and it was a good car early on). I drove it until it contained not a single good part left. Bodyshell: Rusty. Engine: Oil-burner. Carburetor: Messed-up. Transmission: No more synchromesh. Shock absorbers: Hah! That car went to the scrap heap in 1990 with about 180,000 km on it.

.

Perspective.... the competitors cars of the time were the Ford Pinto and Chevy Vega. We all know the history of those.....

i hate those cars totally stupid the replicas I mean

Industrial art. Who are we to judge? You know what's really stupid? A car called "The Judge". People go kookoo for that **** Don't understand it.

Spent Saturday ripping around in my friends Shelby Cobra. 500hp+ in a 1800lb "car" makes for a very fun ride :)

My favourite car related experience was driving an original 289 AC Cobra a few years back. The Cobra was the car I had on my wall growing up, got to realize a dream for a sec.

On the downside, it only did two blocks before breaking down, and I was too scared to get on the gas. Also the dashboard lined up perfectly with where my knees wanted to be.

Still had a blast though

Somebody let you drive their million dollar classic? Thats generous.
