The Car Thread

Watched Furious Seven. I have no idea what that red car is. Who make it? Why is worth so much?

I'm really enjoying the VW TDI Wagon I'm sporting about.

I've become my grand father.

I've had several fox body cars but never a notchback. With how far forced induction has come id like to find another one and turbocharge it. I'd love another one for when I encounter those fast civics with 10k in them  :lmao:

For 10k you could buy a civic and make it go pretty damn fast. It would be one ugly pos though. As you said forced induction has come a LONG way and brought the prices down substantially.

If you're even remotely interested in having a cool car from the era, a clean fox body Mustang will only appreciate in value from here. You can buy one and basically enjoy it for as long as you want, for free; just keep it clean.

On a sidenote, does anyone know a capable tuner in the GTA that could properly dyno tune quad Webers?

Thinking of doing a cars and coffee-esque weekly meetup at the tims on 11610 Keele St, would anyone be interested in the idea?

Im waiting for Ertefa to start up their forum so I can post it there too.

ertefa lol... did they manage to organize a single meet that wasn't busted up by cops within an hour of gathering>?

Last year I think they only did one, and that didn't last long because there were idiots doing burnouts and racing.

So what was your first car? I had a 96 regal bequeathed to me. Sat for awhile. shop did the head gasket work ($$) then the tranny blew up next year ($$$$) then it threw a rod the following all before 160k. Good enough to carry you're whole crew though.

My first car was before the days of Facebook documenting my life and wasn't so much of a prize to warrant a picture.

It was a 1974 Plymouth Valiant 2door. It had rust bubbles under the vinyl roof and the rear quarter panels were mostly bondo from the previous owner.

Am radio. Slant 6, 3 spd auto.

Some legendary trips made in that car before the frame become too rotted and was driven to the scrap yard.

Replaced by a 78 VW Rabbit with hand crank sunroof, 4 spd manual and blaupunkt stereo with Alpine 6 x 9 speakers.

Drove across Canada with the little Volks with my TW200 and worldly possessions. Great machine.

My first car when I was 16 was a black 89 iroc-z with t-tops and a 350 under the hood, Back in 2001, didnt have a digi camera, but i have pics in a photo album somewhere. Had it for half a year, then sold it from lack of money for insurance and gas. Then bought a clapped out ford ranger which I sold to fund my first street bike a year later.

1976 Honda Civic featuring the Hondamatic transmission. Shift from 1st to 2nd gear, no clutch. I don't even remember if it shifted into another gear or if that's all there was. Paid $100 for it in 1988. Caught on fire driving the 401.
Wanted an IROC-Z, though.

My uncle had a black notchback, it was suppose to be my first car. But he crashed it the summer I was suppose to buy it from him.

I still want to own a foxbody, even thought i would have no practical use for it.

They're a ton of fun but these days finding a reasonably priced decent example is rare. Too many people want way too much money for them.

Nope ... Hondamatics only had two speeds. They were always in the wrong gear, and delivered neither power nor economy.

My first car was a hand-me-down 1978 Civic with the "big" 1500 engine, 5-speed manual, hatchback, which my dad had bought new (and it was a good car early on). I drove it until it contained not a single good part left. Bodyshell: Rusty. Engine: Oil-burner. Carburetor: Messed-up. Transmission: No more synchromesh. Shock absorbers: Hah! That car went to the scrap heap in 1990 with about 180,000 km on it.

I recall water pumps being an issue on that car. I had the replacement procedure down to 45 minutes by the last time I had to do it. I think it went through 4 or 5 of them.

Wasn't my first car but my folks had the same car when I was a teen in the house. I've never driven a slower, more gutless car than that. HORRIBLE car with that 6.

Spent Saturday ripping around in my friends Shelby Cobra. 500hp+ in a 1800lb "car" makes for a very fun ride :)

My first car was one I drooled over walking to high school. A hot rodded sleeper 1968 AMC Rambler. Black. The guy put in a 360 V8/4 speed and what I later found out was a wider AMC Rebel 3rd member. He compensated the wider rear track with majorly offset chrome reverse wheels, painted black, at the front. A real engineering coup de grace. I scored it for $500. He made some noises about my parents consent. So I swung by on my older brothers Bonneville 650. That put his concerns to rest.
