The Bad Riders of Ontario Thread

Extremely anecdotal observation - does anybody else feel like they don't see many bikes "mildly" speeding these days? Like either they're moving with traffic, or they're testing out their Bonneville Flats configuration. IDK, it could be I'm getting old and it's in my head
I think we see them (I should hope so as riders) it’s just the asshats are the ones that stand out.

Same as if a guy in a civic cuts you off you don’t care, but when @Evoex does it in a BMW X5 he’s the worst person to walk the earth….I kid I kid!

Im glad I have my dash cams now front and rear. As long as I didn’t cause it they’ll be evidence. If I do they’ll be formatted before the cops show up.

I'm also getting old. I haven't seen much difference in behaviour. A few wobbling around and terrified, most going roughly with traffic, some going <20 above traffic and a few giving it the beans.

Yup, ok. What is a slower driver? a tractor, a truck with a heavy load etc. or someone in a car under the speed limit?
With the way speed limits are going, it may be faster to walk in a few years.. :ROFLMAO:
Anyone who is slower than me, obviously!

I'll just share this.

Last night I was cruising along the Gardner and a sport bike passed me on the right side (I was in the middle) crossed my lane ahead of me, with a wave back to me, and zipped through some other traffic. I thought that was decent.

Last week going along Kingston rd (HWY 2), 2 sport bikes passed me, and cut me off. For no apparent reason as there was no traffic in front of me or any other lanes for that matter. Totally aHoles.

I'll be cool with the first rider any day, sure they was going fast but wasn't being a jerk about it.

i'd cut you off on the bike too!

Did they throw out the anchor because they thought they had just blown past a cop?

I was scrolling down to type the same thought.

And it seems like the number of high speed fly bys has dropped off recently in my driving.

Well if someone is riding on your lawn they both qualify for this thread and deserve ridicule.

Cut across someone's lawn (corner lot) by the sand pits while getting chased by the cops when I was a kid. Ran into the guy who's house it was a couple of weeks later. Said he saw me roosting across the lawn out the front window and was yelling GO GO GO!

Terrible quality video, but when I hear of punching mirrors, I think of this guy.

I am seeing this too as I cruise at 130 km/h to work.

This morning...
Had a squid with no gear on, shirt basically coming off go in the left lane then after the King St exit decided to go way right to get off on the sportsworld exit 🤦‍♀️

Most mornings... I see this cruiser guy on the right lane nearby Halton. Are you on here!?!?

Yesterday... I saw a BMW GS?? He/she was riding very safe, followed me into the HOV lane (Mavis) but he didn't follow me at 130 km/h. Are you on here!?!?

Once I get into Toronto, barely any motorcycles commuting to work :(/

While I somewhat agree and have occasionally gone too fast on my bike, I do see filtering a busy highway like you're inside a video game as bad riding practice.

Go to the track, or run a wide open highway with no traffic.

By the way one sportbike was GP loud. I didn't hear him until she passed me.

Echoing this.

I was nothing close to a saintly rider. I used to tell myself "I won't speed except this season outside of race tracks" and then find myself banging from 1st redline to 4th 10 minutes from pulling out of the driveway lol

Except the stupid riding was always done with plenty of run off, no weaving necessary, and much thought put in "if I crash, I will only take myself out." Think more riders need to adopt this. We've all had moments where our ego surpassed our skill after all <_<

Nobody plans a crash though.….in short you can't say that with any degree of certainty.

I crashed every season at least once. I saw the wipeouts coming. The precursor to nearly every single one was "I am tired." Same thing happens when sim racing. The "I am tired" thing also happens to everyone.

In order to get competitive and competent at riding/racing, you have to adopt the mindset of "I am god, and I am certain I won't get into an accident unless I **** up." Any other mindset makes you less competitive.

Same mindset applied on the street, no accidents with any vehicle over 20 years as a result.

EDIT: Above mindset requires sanity checking your skill by comparing against others to know where you are on the totem pole. Can't blindly adopt a mindset with no metric; that's just ego and arrogance lol

While true, you can play with the odds. On a windy country road, odds are high you will have a singe vehicle crash. Playing frogger on the 401 odds are very high multiple vehicles will be involved.

Yeah...I found myself on those group rides a few times and never rode w/ them again lol

Have you read leadership secrets of the rogue warrior by marcinko? You have a lot of similar concepts.
