Tell that to the driver of the SUV accident...

People seem to forget cars are designed with crumple zones, and a bike is a 400+ kinetic missile. If it hits anything at a high rate of speed they are going to take someone else with them.

Most car manufacturers put reinforcing in the doors to prevent accidents like the one above. Front and back can have crumple zones. The sides have no where to crumple to, that isn't occupied.

Has to be 905. The only drivers/riders worse than in Toronto itself.

Plan on reporting this one, If anyone can confirm the plate, it was hard to read with the rain and grey skies maybe someone with better eyes than me can confirm: BDPA 385?

Unfortunately that's going to be the fault of the turning driver, though it really shouldn't be.
I respectfully disagree. The turner could have and should have waited for the way to be clear. The straight through was hard on the brakes at the yellow light, although speed was probably a factor. There just happened to be a break in the traffic at that point.

There was more than enough time for the car going through the light to stop. Yellow doesn't mean "go faster", it means stop if you are able to safely do so. Unfortunately most drivers these days think that it means the former, rather than the latter.

Based on the INREB principle, if the straight-through car was going faster, the collision might have been avoided. Hmmm, maybe that's for red lights only, not yellow, as in this case

Brakes were only applied when the car appeared in front of him - there was zero intent to stop at the yellow.

Sure, and by the same token, the person turning left shouldn't have passed the stop bar until the way was clear to proceed, and therefore should have never entered the intersection. The view isn't back far enough or on a good enough angle for me to judge whether there was time to stop, and what the view of the left turner was.

Brakes were only applied when the car appeared in front of him - there was zero intent to stop at the yellow.

Like I said, not far back enough to see where the point of no return should have been, and what else was going on. A view from the straight through car would be good for this. Again, the car shouldn't have appeared in front of him.

It also looked like the left turner did absolutely nothing. Didn't get on the gas or brake, but of course the view isn't clear enough to determine it. Can't even tell if they pulled into the intersection before or after the yellow. In any case there looks to be an advanced green there, so they should have just stopped, and waited for the next light.

Everyone's in such a hurry.
